Perfect drive for a NAS box.
I was lucky enough to receive a Synology DiskStation for my birthday as I've always been grumbling about my files being scattered across a hot-potch of small capacity external hard drives and USB sticks. The diskstation came 'bare bones' and contained no hard drives, so I started looking to see what hard drive(s) would be best to get. I'm not a massive hoarder of files, but I've got a sizeable music collection and a growing collection of movies, not to mention that I regularly record videos on my camera phone that I want to keep. In the end, I decided to go for one of these Seagate IronWolf 2Tb drives. I've been running this drive for six months now and the whole time I've been using it, it's remained quite, fast and hasn't skipped a beat. I'm not entirely sure why other reviewers are saying that it's noisy - it's really not and is, from my experience in IT (as an IT Professional) no noisier than any other mechanical hard drive. I've also experienced none of the 'chirping' noises that have been reported - the only issue I'm, having is that the disk keeps randomly waking up from hibernation - but this is down to an issue with the DiskStation rather than the drive itself. All in all, I'm impresses with the performance of this hard disk and would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a drive for a NAS.

Reliable Performance
I use these on a HP Micro Server which acts as a media server. I have had no issues with capacity or performance in all the years I have had them. Will happily repurchase the same or equivalents from Seagate.

Excellent for price
After receiving 2 drives DOA the third one has been very good and runs at a steady 26degrees C. 2tb is more than i would need. I purchased two of them and have them in RAID1 mirroring

A good hard drive for server application
This was a replacement for a failed hard drive in a NAS home server. It was very easy to install and it then formatted itself and copied the content using the RAID functionality. There were no problem despite this being a different brand to the failed unit. The NAS does seem to be a little noisier than before but this could down to either the new or the older drive in the bays.

Fast and stable
Bought this for a NAS I was trying to reboot and these have done the job. great drives with a long life expectancy whilst running in my NAS is what I've needed.

good performance drives
Great drives. NAS drives, designed to run all the time. I can max out a 1gbit connection on my nas with a raid 1 of these drives. I use them in a Terra master f4-220. mirrored for resilience. 960Mbits or 100Mbytes per second will do for me. I think you can get more out of them but you would need a dual 1gbit or 10gbit connected NAS.

The best choice for a RAID drive.
Not much to say, other than it is very quick in my NAS drive housing which I use to backup PCs on my network.

Super disques durs mais qualité colis déplorable
Reçu colis en 24 heures. Merci Amazon.

Excellent hard disk running cool and quiet
This 2TB IronWolf is meant for file servers. Going by specification and reputation, it has a very low failure rate and excellent performance. Some reviewers have found the larger versions to be rather noisy and run warmer than the competition - I can only say that this one runs cooler than its (Samsung Spinpoint) predecessor and is also very quiet; even at close range I can barely hear whether it's working or not. Cmr or smr? This is a cmr (conventional magnetic recording) hard disk as opposed to an smr (shingled magnetic recording) one. Smr is quickly becoming more common, because the use of overlapping magnetic tracks allows more data to be crammed into a drive of given size. The 'trick' here is the difference in width of the reading and writing heads - the latter are wider than the reading kind, so space is arguably wasted by keeping tracks well separated. However, when an smr disk writes new data on a track it can't avoid partially overwriting the next track as well, which means that the data stored there must be refreshed - which increases the total amount of writing to be done and therefore the time required to do the job. Whether this is a problem or not depends on the use you make of an smr disk. If it's an archive to which you mostly just add fairly small amounts of data at a time, then smr will not be noticably slow. But when there is a need to frequently move tens of gigabytes, you may find a cmr disk like the IronWolf to be more consistently quick.
