What a suprise as a long time user of MAGIX software tried to use the Magix 18 music maker the program would not register on my system, supposed to work on older windows program loaded to about 70% no soundpools or instruments or mastering tools,I think you download these parts after register program as program not accepting register number so this software no good to me and I will be returning,in the past have used magix to good effect but trying to log into get support is now almost impossible and was not a good experience, and I am thinking maybe windows 10 is minimum required with this program as many others have had problems loading this version from reading other reviews here.

Music production
Dislike that you can't just drag and drop pm3 files converting files just take up so much time but overall I like the mixing element to it

Much Ado About Nothing
Awful. No guidelines at all!; no step by step process; no music/songs to practice with.

Decent product.
Decent product. I'd advise getting a sound pool disc as well, so you have more options in putting together music.

error alert
annoyed - it sounded okay and thought great but come to do music and it just kept doing the first minute of a song then error - Magix 14 is by far the best ever Magix, this was a complete waste of money

Can be extremely frustrating to register, install and use.
This program is ideally suited to someone who has some knowledge in sound mixing. I found the program to be quite slow to open on my desktop which has well in excess of the minimum requirements of 2 Gb Ram. (I have 8 Gb RAM) It is quite thirsty on the electronic resources available. When you start to find your way around the program, took me about 60 minutes or so, you can have some fun experimenting with some of the sound pools and various instruments. I am sure the more experienced users of sound mixing will be able to get more out of this program than I was able to in the couple of hours I have been experimenting with it. I will persevere and hopefully gain some valuable experience to progress to the next step in sound mixing. There is an option to purchase different instruments from the Magix music maker store, broadening the users catalogue of available tools to ensure one gets the best use from the software... you could view this as a clever means of extracting more money from you. One word of warning... in the past, when I have used Magix software, I have experienced considerable difficulty in installing the software. The problem usually is that Magix go to extreme lengths to protect their software from illegal use that they put in too many complex procedures to go through to register it on-line. Even if you go through all the procedures correctly, Magix can still deny you access, and don't tell you why... which is extremely frustrating. Frequently you are denied access to registration, even if you have purchased the program... they have got your money and don't care much whether you manage to register it, and no registration means no access. Magix create more obstacles to satisfactory installation than other software manufacturers and for that reason I cannot recommend them. Look around for a more user friendly app. manufacturer. For these reasons I can rate this software only 4 stars.

Fun piece of software but installation could be quicker.
Just like other Magix products this is software for creating music but very much aimed at a specific market. The idea with Music Maker is that you can create songs by using the loops included with the software. There is a range of virtual instruments available that you can add effects to if you wish. You can also import your own sounds once you get bored with the standard ones.Installation was around 10 minutes for me (although my pc is getting on a bit now) and I had a few hardware issues but I like a challenge so started going through my drivers to find the problem. Bizarrely it turned out to be a problem with the driver for my graphics card, I initially assumed it would be the sound card. Go figure. Anyway once those problems had been sorted and installation complete the software seems quite stable. I've had a couple of lock ups but you never know if that's down to the software or my ageing pc.I found the learning curve not too steep but I've used other Magix products before so maybe that helped. I think most people won't have a problem using this especially as it's aimed at entry level. I quickly managed to create several tracks which sounded reasonably decent although I would guess that you're not going to come up with anything particularly original using the standard loops and sounds provided.I think once you get to grips with the software and start importing your own sounds you might create something more interesting but this product is aimed at those with no musical ability but still want to create music. Many would argue that modern music is created by people with no musical ability so maybe this could be the start of a glittering career.Being sensible now, this is a budget priced piece of software that is meant to be a bit of fun and as such I think it succeeds. I think the installation side of it isn't great but once you can get through that then you'll have hours of music making.
