Ventilator 2 Rotary Cabinet Simulator - Black/Orange

Great but with an Achilles heel
My Kurzweil is a great instrument but its weak spot is the Leslie emulation. Thus after reading some great reviews and, more importantly, seeing (and hearing) some good YouTube demos, I got my wallet out. Three hundred notes is not cheap for what is in effect (sic) a one trick pony but keyboard players know that it's one of the few things that has to be done just right. The Ventilator is a very sturdy piece of kit, solid metal construction & recessed controls. Five knobs to determine fast and slow speeds, acceleration, balance, drive, mix etc. Three stomp buttons for bypass, stop and slow/fast. And it sounds fantastic, you can overdrive it using your instrument's volume, stop the lower rotor while spinning the top, the playability is excellent. And now the downside. After a couple of weeks the unit started to act up. Switching off bypass the signal would start clean, then a couple of seconds later would distort and then fade to silence. However, it was the classic intermittent fault, until a couple of weeks ago when it did it all the time. When I finally navigated Amazon's labyrinthine faulty goods return service (no marks here, Amazon, I had to watch a YouTube video to work out how it was done) I got a new unit almost by return. In between I found several users with similar problems on various forums and the general conclusion is that the power supply is the problem. The power supply is a cheap plastic wall wart. The manual enjoins you to "not use any other … power supply" than what comes in the box. Given that it's a standard 12DC 0.5A my eyebrows went up a bit at this, I must have half a dozen of the things around the house. Why the Ventilator couldn't have a standard IEC C13 at this price is hard to fathom. It's the one thing that lets it down.

Leslie 122 in your pocket.
Compared it directly with my Leslie 122RV and cannot hear any difference. This unit replaces a Leslie 2102 which I have gigged with for several years. The 2102 never convinced as a real 122RV, always being slightly 'shrill' at the top and requiring the bottom end to be inserted into the PA. Less to carry and an improved sound. Great result!

Leslie effect
Having had a Leslie 910 for many years I can confirm that this unit comes very close to producing the same sound effect. Organ sounds on my keyboard now sound very rich.

Brilliant piece of equipment.
Brilliant piece of equipment. By far the best Leslie simulator I have heard. Shut your eyes and you would really think you're playing through a vintage 122 Leslie cabinet. Very sturdy. Well constructed. Worth every penny.

A thing of great beauty.
A superb, shimmering, flexible and faithfully modelled Leslie speaker simulator. More control options than you can shake a stick at but most importantly a fundamentally superb sound, however you tweak it.

I was so disappointed that after 4 hours use the ventillator failed
Having spent many hours watching and reading reviews on Leslie fx units I decided to purchase the new ventillator 2 . It was significantly more expensive than others but I've always been of the impression buy cheap buy twice.I was so disappointed that after 4 hours use the ventillator failed. The stop button and the slow fast function button did not respond.Amazon replaced the vent in less than 24 hours and it's a pity the quality of the vent did not match Amazons excellent service. So I assume the problem is with the QC of the chips and my replacement will be ok but it does leave a doubt in my mind as to how long this one last. Perhaps Neo could advise what the failure rate is of this product.
