AMAZING Skimmer for nano tanks
Ordered this skimmer after struggling with the fluval mini protein skimmer. It broke in super quick and is giving me a beautiful brown sludge on the first day. setup is super easy there and tuning is intuitive. I cannot even hear it from across the room. not producing any micro bubbles either. It is a bit pricy but work it in my opinion, especially if you have a larger bio load or like to feed heavy. Edit: After having this skimmer for a month, The only complaint I have is the large amount of micro bubbles it makes. luckily its easy to solve. I just replaced the blue sponge with filter floss and they are gone!

Ahhhhh. Thank you Tunze.
So superior to any other small skimmer. I have tried them all. Flushed a lot of money down the drain with others. This one is as close to perfect as I can imagine. Mainly, it actually removes skimmate!!! whoooo! No constant adjustments. I do have it in my rear baffled area with a constant water level. It would not work well if water level fluctuates. It has stopped working once due to my negligence of not cleaning as recommended and the airline getting clogged by a sponge. Clean it periodically and you will be fine. Unlike most, it is actually possible to take it apart and get it back together without much cussing or needing 4 hands. The main feature is that it is SILENT. We have the tank right by the couch, and this got a thumbs up from my husband who cannot tolerate rattles or weird noises.

It works pretty good. Fairly silent
I bought this a few months back after some decent reviews. I wanted to upgrade from that weak BC skimmer that runs on a air pump. Pros: It works pretty good. Fairly silent. Produces a good amount of bubbles. Air stone free. Plug and play. Generated some good dark foam. The theory works...well. Cons: Never ever try to clean this sucker. Be extremely careful with the magnets as it is easy to break off the one that connects to the base (if you don't understand, you will). Directions are weak even though this should be self explanatory. If you don't have a auto top-off forget about it. You will literally have to move it down as your water level drops. If you have a auto top-off then you are good to go aside from the before mentioned problems. With that said be sure beforehand to play around with it out of the tank. Spend the time to get to know it inside and out. Had I done that I would have given it a few more stars. This thing is just a headache. +28 years in the hobby. Update - Ok after 4 months I have upped the rating one star. I am still irritated that there is a tiny piece of plastic holding that massive magnet but whatever. I glued it on and all is well. After a good break-in period this skimmer will produce some nasty foam, which is what we want. 4 Stars for doing what it is suppose to, 1 Star for price and ease of use. Again the theory is sound but the execution sucks. It needs tweaking but overall it is still in my BC which says a lot.

Nano skimmer with airpump technology !
I bought this skimmer last August for my Topfin 25 gallon bowfront tank. I was skeptical about the airflow design of Tunze Nano 9001 compared to the powerhead turbo /venturi systems that I have used before. There were no recent reviews except for a brief review on YouTube. So I took the risk of ordering this unit since Tunze is a well known product in the industry. Assembly: Upon assembly of this unit I was debating which position of the pump should I use, since there are 3 ways you can mount it to the body. I finally end up using the conventional way as stated in the manual. It kept me thinking as to how it actually works because its has this air inlet hose plugged to an impeller that has no motor attached to it? It took me sometime to attach it with the magnet because the air inlet hose keep floating and pushes off the body. I found out the best way is to put the collector cup while mounting with the magnet to the tank. Operation: When I first turned on the skimmer I saw some kind of compressed fine air coming out of the transparent cover. When I adjusted the air inlet that's when I knew it was already running, seeing the skimmate rise off the cup. It is an effective and quiet nano skimmer with air pump technology, without the use of a cumbersome air-wood ! I recommend this skimmer to any nano tank owners.

Good, Small skimmer for Biocube HQI
I purchased this for my Biocube 29 HQI. I had to modify the lip of the 3rd chamber with a dremel tool to allow it to slide in and out without too much hassle. I also changed out the air intake tube to be much, much longer than the previous one. After it broke in and I fiddled with the Tunze 9001, I finally got it working to produce some nice protein sludge. If you're looking for a SMALL protein skimmer that actually works, this is a great option. My chief complaint is that the lid to the collection cup goes on really tight---even with the slightest pressure placed on it, prompting a complete removal of the cup if I want to see how full it's getting. It's also prone to releasing microbubbles into my system if I touch anything about it. Otherwise, it's fairly effective and a good skimmer.

DONT BUY
I had this in my tank for a month and it didn't produce any film, bubbles, skim at all. The impeller worked, bubbles were made, but nothing in the sort of protein skimming. I sent a request to return, but the seller wanted me to talk to the producer. DO NOT BUY, they will not make return easy if it isn't working, I am now stuck with a non-operating piece of $150 plastic. NOT impressed.

Best performing nano skimmer I've ever used!
Great little skimmer for a nano reef. I have it sitting in my cpr aquafuge 2. Fits nice and stays put. Has a lot of micro bubbles during break in(about a week or so) but have gone away now. Have had more than a few nano skimmers over the years now, but this one is almost silent and can produce pretty dark skimmate. Light tea colored is usually the best you can do with most small skimmers. Plus it's a Tunze! Hands down the best customer service you could ask for. If you ever have a problem or need a part, they'll have you fixed up in a day or two from there Texas location. If your thinking about buying one you won't be disappointed.

I brought this item through Amazon AU, it arrived today and I plugged it in using an adapter after 5 minutes of use it stopped working. Little did I know this product isn't rated for the Australian power as its higher than the USA power. If I had of known I wouldn't have wasted $220 on it!

Great skimmer. Not even a week yet and it’s almost broken in. Skimmate is a little light but already getting thicker by the day. The model I received has the silencer attached to a round dial between the magnet on the outside of the tank. Very easy to adjust the airflow to the skimmer. I had a qq1 magus before this and the tunze is a much better/easier unit. The tunze primes it self as the pump is inside the tank. The qq1 has to be primed every time because its pump is outside, and eventually quit working only after 2 years. It wouldn’t prime anymore. For the tunze, just set it and plug it in with no fuss. So easy. Also all black and small form factor helps it blend in and not take up much space. I currently have this on a 25 gallon rimless and it’s working great
