So useful
I have wanted one of these for ages and when it popped up at a very attractive price I couldn't resist. I did consider the Kmix but although I liked the styling I really wanted to have the flexi-beater and, as far as I can tell, there isn't (yet?) a flexi-beater for the Kmix. I also thought about the Kitchenaid but I have heard of some issues regarding reliability and, much though I love the look, I couldn't justify paying £150 more for something that would do the job no better just because of the lovely colours. In truth, having now got the Chef out on my work surface I think I prefer its more unobtrusive looks and it seems smaller than I was expecting, albeit still a bulky item. I have only had the machine for about a week but I have already put it to extensive use and used all the standard attachments. The kit includes a decent recipe book (although a noddy guide for newbies would have been a welcome addition) from which I cooked some soufflés and a rather lovely tiramisu gateau. I have also used the machine to make bread. Needless to say the Chef did its work efficiently. If, like me, you are used to only a hand mixer then you need to take care initially to avoid over-beating, etc.. The machine is a solid piece of kit which would be best left out on a worktop. That said, it is lighter than my Magimix which weighs a ton so if I had to put one of the two in a cupboard, it would be the Chef. I did need to adjust the whisk and K beaters to ensure that they picked up all the ingredients on the bottom of the bowl. There is a spanner for this - initially I couldn't find this but it is in the bubble pack that contains the flexi-beater. Making the adjustments was easy. The dough hook is apparently properly set at the factory and should need no adjustment. The blender is a hefty piece of glass. Unlike my old blender the whole thing comes apart so that cleaning the sharp blades is easy and safe. I noticed one reviewer mentioned having problems removing the mixing bowl. I haven't come up against that but I have real trouble separating the various elements of the blender. They fit together tightly to avoid any issues with leakage, the blender unit attaches to and comes away from the slot on the Chef without any difficulty but I had to get my husband to twist the base off to dismantle it for cleaning. I guess that it needs to fit together securely to prevent leaks (and there weren't any). I noticed one review saying that the splashguard did not fit properly. I can only assume this is an irregularity as my splashguard fits perfectly and stops any flour etc escaping. There are a couple of DVDs included, one with recipes, the other an introduction and in effect an extended advert for the accessories which you can buy (there are lots of these). There are one or two that I will probably get but as I already have a Magimix there would be no point in getting others. Each of these machines has its advantages and disadvantages and is better at certain tasks. For example, the Kenwood is much better at whisking than the Magimix whilst there is little difference between the blender and the Magimix, indeed the heavy glass jug of the Chef is better I think for crushing ice. The one thing I would like is a storage system for the beaters, etc.. I have put them all in a basket so I don't lose any bits but that will be a pain if I get some of the attachments. One of the things I am interested in is the pasta maker and there are a raft of expensive bronze dies to produce different shapes which would be easy to mislay. All in all, I am delighted and I know I will be baking much more frequently now.

Impulse buy
Well, I've always wanted a KitchenAid but could not justify the price tag then I thought of buying a bread maker which after some thought I figured out that the novelty would wear off and I'd have another dust collect. All I was after was a machine that could knead bread and perhaps do something else, not asking for much or was I? Well upon my search of the perfect machine I came across this Kenwood but on a different site, oh I thought this bad boy looks posh and professional. Comes with loads of attachments ie: icecream maker, meat press ,dice, slicer and much to my disappointment a juicer (I spent 150.00 on a juicer) but yet again I sighed whilst looking at the price Fast forward a couple of days and Amazon was having this "Prime Day" There I was searching on the deals on offer and Shock Horror! There it was...The Kenwood that one can only dream of owning but this was at a lovely price. I'll have that beauty I said to my self . I couldn't wait for the next day delivery to test out my Prime membership and my new toy. Upon opening this huge box I unearth the beauty. I'm so impressed with this machine, all the attachments are standard but the mixer bowl and blender make up for that. Grand construction, stainless steel bowl, thermo pitcher (very heavy) and feels professional. I've used all the attachments, made bread, cake mixes ,and whipped cream. I'm very impressed with this so much that I've forgotten all about the Kitchenaid... this is a grand price for this machine and if you do your research you'll fine that it retails for £429.00 on Kenwood.com and £230.00 in Currys. You won't be disappointed if you're looking for a professional machine at an affordable price. Now I'm looking to invest in the meat grinder I'm not thinking about the juicer attachment as I already have one camped out on the counter but I think I'll try the blender and see how it crushes ice for a margarita whilst drooling over 22 attachments.

good but need a few tweaks
A really lovely machine that works well. However, the splash guard is a waste of time as it is flimsy and drops off due to the one slider that holds it in place. The pan is stainless steel and looks good but is difficult to turn to take off the machine if you have mobility problems as I have . A handle or rim of some sort to grip so as to be able to better grasp and turn. The final reason in have given the product 4vstars is that when using the kids beater you have to keep stopping the machine to remove mixes from the sides which it fails to mix . In all a tidy machine and the mixer that scrapes the sides is brill but just could be refined further.

Very noisy
I've been waiting for years to buy one of these. It does lovely mixing and all that, but there is no way I can have a conversation with anyone else in the kitchen while this machine is on. It is extremely noisy!! Am quietly a bit disappointed...

Promised so much and delivered so little...
We had such high hopes.... Bought this machine a bit less than 2 years ago and apart from the standard attachments we also got the mincer attachment and the mini chopper attachment. This machine has seen a fair bit of use - at least 6 times a month, and sometimes up to 15 times a month - making smoothies, mixing bread dough and case mixtures, grinding meat, chopping nuts, etc. We've always been careful with all the appliances we bought - we try to buy good quality appliances, not minding to pay a bit more, and trusting that it will last a decent amount of time if we look after it. Unfortunately the Kenwood KMC570 did not live up to its reputation and our expectations. If I had to give a review for this product a year ago it would have been 5 stars but after using it a twice the past 2 weeks it unfortunately does not even deserve a single star. The machine cuts out if you use it for a couple of minutes (and we are talking a light sponge mixture) and today it started making an awful grinding noise. This is NOT what you would expect from a premium quality machine which supposedly prides itself on its heritage. It's clear that this machine was designed and build with a limited lifespan in mind. If you after a nice look machine that you don't expect to use for longer than a year, or possibly only use once or twice a month, then by all means, go for the KMC570. When it's working its great. However, if you are looking for something a bit more robust, something that might last longer than 2 years then I would suggest looking elsewhere. Kenwood kitchen mixers are NOT what they supposed to be.

Don't make things like they used to
I bought this mixer after having a Kenwood Chef A901 for 20 years when my children were growing up and it was a wonderful machine. The KMC570 is flimsy , no guts in it if you know what I mean . The beater , whisk even the steel bowl are all lightweight , no body about them , don't think this one will last 20 years . You think you are buying a British built product then on arrival there it is made in China ! printed on the box . Kenwood had an offer on of a free glass mixing bowl , I bought this mixer on the 29th Nov 2013 it's now 7th Jan even with emails to the customer services team I am still waiting for the bowl to arrive Most defiantly things ain't what they used to be

Not disappointed
I bought this after a lot of research. I remember my mother making cakes and using a Kenwood mixer 30 years ago, so this seemed like a good purchase. I also read so many bad reviews about a competing brand that I finally settled on this model. I was not disappointed. Firstly, the mixer is well built, everything looks solid, feels solid and all the bowls and attachements go in the dishwasher, a must in the 21st century. I have used it extensively and all the attachements are brilliant. Secondly, the motor works well at low and high speeds, I have made bread, brioche, and buns, it copes well with rich doughs; at higher speeds, meringues, creme chantilly, iles flotantes, cake batter are all effortless. The only extra I got was a second mixing bowl , so I could beat the egg whites separately (I strongly recommend any serious cook to get a spare bowl, it makes life easier, and saves you from pouring the mixture into a separate bowl, washing up and then beating the egg whites). Thirdly, it looks very good and I have decided to leave it on the worktop, rather than move it around all the time. As it is quite heavy, as you would expect for a serious mixer, it saves on manual handling!

A great kitchen workhorse
I have been waiting to purchase this mixer for a while, when Amazon dropped it to £199.99 recently I had to snap it up quickly. This machine has a 1000w motor, if you do a lot of dough and pastry mixing, then I would go for this model series. Made a full 1.5kg bread dough mix using strong white flour in one go, the mixing action was excellent and the dough mixed within 3 minutes to the perfect consistency. The machine isn't that noisy, personally it’s what I expected. A really good set of attachments/extras are included in the box, including a creamer beater, plastic spatula with a bonus hardback recipe book. This model also comes with the thermo-resistant glass blender jug, excellent for soups, milkshakes, smoothies etc.. The build quality is excellent, what I would expect from Kenwood, The mixer is so easy to use and clean. If you want to make the most of this machine then there is a plethora of attachments available to buy, including a mincer, pasta maker. I hope this machine will last as long as the one my gran bought over 30 years ago. Ready, steady, BAKE!
