Excellent oats at a reasonable price

Makes great porridge without soaking overnight. This is a lot of oats so the price per Kg is low. Good job I like porridge. I may also make cinnamon and sultana flapjacks from these oats. They’re quite versatile!

I go through a lot of whole rolled oats for porridge and have bought many different types, from packets of expensive brands to weighed out and bagged in Scottish health food shops. These Mornflake Jumbo have excellent flavour and texture and are good value at £16 for 12kg. I stir up 1 cup oats, 1 cup milk and 1 cup boiling water then microwave it in an oversized plastic container for 2 minutes, stir well, then bring it up to the boil a couple of times (remember the oversized container !) with further 20-30 second bursts in the microwave. Stir again then leave it for 30 minutes for the oats to swell. Microwave till hot again and add a small amount (don't overdo it) of boiling water to thin it down if required. You should now have fantastic fluffy porridge with a creamy flavour. Add a few almonds, pumpkin seeds or other nuts and half an apple chopped into cubes with some grapes or raisins, sprinkle some cinnamon on top and you have a breakfast worth waking up for.

Decent price for the amount of oats and yes there are verry filling oats.

Excellent oats 🙂 I've been using these for years now. Best slow cooked on a low heat with regular stirring. 100 grams of oats 600ml of milk cooked for about 40 minutes gives amazing creamy porridge. The best in my opinion.
