Mr Wow Four Core
I've just set up a new system based around the i7 920 CUP. This will replacemy main PC, which is a 478 socket 3.2Ghz P4 chip, running 4gb of PC3200 ram.The speed of the i7 maybe only be 2.66Ghz, but with the fast FSB speed & 6Gb's ofDDR3 ram, plus the four cores of course, makes this baby really fly.My only regret is two weeks after I bought it, Intel brought out the 930 chip running at 2.8Ghz for only a tenner more!Still that's life, we alway's want a bigger one!UPDATEI had a little play with the clock frequency in the Bios, I changed it from the 133 setting to 140, this booststhe speed up to 2.8Ghz (same as the 930 chip)I then when a little further up to 150 base clock, giving a speedof 3Ghz.I'm pleased to say the cpu temperature stayed the same and it's still stable after two weeks of use. No increasewas needed to the CPU voltage (which is the main course of over heating), however I do have a massive cooler (Noctua Nh-U12P) which I'm sure is a big help.It would seem the chip is happy as the temperature has not changed, I'm also happy as I don't feel too bad aboutmissing out on getting the 930 chip. Motherboard is an Asus P6T SE.

Intel i7 920
Bought this processor to build a new computer.Installed into a new gigabyte Mother Board It works O.K. but because The Computer case has not enough fans to cool the processor.i am installing it in a Coolermaster case which will provide a better ventilation. Also the cooler fan that came with the processor needs to be replaced with an artic cooling Freezer 7 Pro to bring the temperature of the processor to about 35-40 C.

The new Q6600? Its a good contender!
Excellent CPU, i am very unlucky when it comes to CPUs as mine never seem to overclock well or they run hot etc but the 920 has been excellent so far.PROS:- Mine did 4ghz at 1.275v, the stock voltage for these CPUs is 1.25v so thats excellent! Ive got it running at 3.6ghz with hyperthreading on at 1.2v so its overclocked by nearly 1ghz and its undervolted, fantastic! Prime stable as well, 24hrs tested.- Has hyperthreading, hyperthreading can give a serious boost in apps that can use it. Beware of using it in vista though vista dosent handle hypethreading well, whos still using vista though? :p- Quad core! This cpu is quite future proof being quad core, most apps are just taking advantage of dual core so quad is ahead of the game somewhatCONS:- A bit pricey, it has to be said that the phenom II does do well against an i7, the i7 beats it in every area but the price difference is quite large and in gaming there is only a small difference. You have to decide if you want the best and want hyperthreading or just want a cheap quad core.Overall it can clock to 4ghz with decent memory and a decent mobo, no need for high price memory though! Dont blow cash on 2000mhz DDR3 stuff as the memory controller on this is only rated for 1066mhz max, anything over that is an overclock on the memory controller and although it does run at overclocked speeds fine it wont do 2000mhz, go for 1333mhz or 1600mhz ram is its cheap, no need for crazy speed stuff. Mine is at 1086mhz for a 3.6ghz overclock. Excellent CPU, best one ive bought so far, beats my dog of an opteron 170 that couldnt overclock for jack ;/

The best value for money CPU... EVER!
I have just got one of these 'new' Core i7 processors to power my new PC, and am so glad I did.First let me say that it is important to try to get the D0 Stepping version as it is much improved over the old version, running cooler and able to overclock higher. It has 4 cores (effectively 4 CPUs in one chip) and each of these can run 2 sets of instructions at once (hyper Threading), so it is like having 8 CPUs in your computer!I have never overclocked anything before, yet was able drop in this processor, change one BIOS setting and instantly had it running at 3.4GHz instead of the default 2.66GHz. The amazing thing was that the temperature of the chip was barely any different from running at the stock speed!I have now learnt a little more from the internet abd by changing just 10 settings in the BIOS, I have it running at 4.0GHz while still well within safe temperatures!A must have if you want the fastest, best value PC around!

Fast as ****
I bought this because the next i7 is fantastically expensive. My setup is an Asus P6T SE mainboard, 6GB Patriot Viper RAM, Western Digital Caviar black 1TB hard drive, ATI Radeon 4850 graphics card with this CPU and windows 7. So far I've only played GTA4 and Trackmania nations but both play very smoothly and look beautiful. Judging by all the reviews I looked at this CPU is definitely the way forward at the moment.By the way, I build my own system and it was very easy. This CPU is a piece of cake to install and, as long as you buy the retail boxed version, rather than the oem version it comes with a perfectly adequate cooler, with thermal pad already attached so you don't need thermal paste. Note, however, that I don't overclock, if you intend to its probably worth buying a more industrial cooler.

SO SO FAST
Im Running this Processor Overclocked at 3.8 GHz! and its awesomly fast!PROS:Runs fast with little power consumption.Runs cool even overclocked (im using the "Corsair CWCH70" as my Cooler) temps 35c-45c.Easy to Overclock. And hey its intel's bigest processor!CONS:NoneMy Stable 3.8GHz Overclock bios settings:Ai Tuner - ManualCUP Ratio - 19.0BCLK - 200CPU Voltage - 1.23v
