Designers Gouache, Introductory Paint Set, 10 x 14 ml Tubes Assorted Colours

I highly recommend these. I've used other paints like watercolour and acrylic in the past, but I was curious about gouache and the effect you can get with them. My first time using them, I think these are excellent value for money, you really only need a small amount and the tubes last a long time. The colours work well and contain great pigment quality. You can use them with or without adding water. Yes the tubes are small but you really don't need lots of product - don't waste it - you can simply re-hydrate dried paint (even if it's been dried for months!!)

I bought these for an illuminated lettering course and the basic colours were ideal. I’d never used gouache before but the opaqueness is perfect for anything where you need a bit more intensity of colour. They’re also easy to apply and the quality is very good

Good quality at a good price as a set. Cheaper than individual colours, although I'd wager that you will want other, extra colours added to your set as I did. Great brand, always consistent. I would prefer larger tubes, but they are in line with the majority of other good brands.

Very good opaque colours except for yellow. Lovely paints to use and I happily layer colours , dark over light and light over dark. Something you can't do with watercolour paints. This is one time it pays to buy "artist" quality paint as the simply range of student range in most brands are more transparent. Artist paint in gouache are usually called "designer". Be aware it's always helpful to buy an extra tube of white as similar to acrylic paints you use a lot of white. Tip. It pays to buy 300g weight paper for painting on. Different paper will react differently so when you find a paper that works for you stick to it. You don't need loads of brushes only 4-5 different shapes and they don't need to be expensive. Wish someone had told me this when I first started out.

I’m new to gouache so I’m very much a novice. Prior to this I’ve always used watercolour. From initial swatching with these the first 2 things I noticed was the depth of pigment which is stunning, they’re definitely opaque when used with very little water. Secondly is the creaminess, they are so easy to use with no brush drag. If I were to look for a criticism it would be the shade of green included in the set. To me it’s definitely an artificial shade that I would never be able to use in any botanical work without adjusting it. There is also some separation when you first open a tube but not a huge amount. Apart from these minor points they are superb points.

I do use Windsor & Newton for a long now and thibk that gouache wise these are one of the best and reasonably priced for the quality. Coverage is great. Tumea are small, but for me it is not a problem as I ak painting miniature jewellery with it so it lasts forever.

Lovely set of paints, bought to try gouache for the first time. Great quality and highly pigmented. Good value for money

Vale cada centavo! Deus... O que se vende com o nome de gouache aqui no Brasil definitivamente não é gouache... Isso é gouache! Quero saber como deve ser um Holbein (provavelmente muito melhor ainda). Sonho!!! Recomendo a qualquer um que deseje ter uma boa experiência com gouache.

Beautiful Gouache and can’t fault

Ich habe die Designer Gouache von Winsor & Newton als Einsteiger-Set mit 10 Farben gekauft, um Gouache in professioneller Qualität kennenzulernen, ohne gleich eine große Farbpalette anschaffen zu müssen. Gesucht war ein Set, das vielseitig einsetzbar ist und sich gut in bestehende Maltechniken integrieren lässt. Insgesamt umfasst die vollständige Farbpalette der Designer Gouache von Winsor & Newton 87 Farbtöne. Da in dem 10-teiligen Einsteiger-Set sind folgende Farben enthalten: Primärgelb, Permanentgelb, Spektralrot, Primärrot, Ultramarin, Primärblau, Permanentgrün Mittel, Gelbes Ocker, Rußschwarz und Zinkweiß. Die Gouachefarben zeichnen sich durch hohe Pigmentierung, gute Lichtechtheit und sehr gute Deckkraft. Die Farben trocknen matte auf, ohne nachzudunkeln. Die Farben sind lösungsmittel- und geruchsfrei. Die Farben lassen sich zudem jederzeit wieder mit Wasser anlösen, was Korrekturen erleichtert. Obwohl das Set auf den ersten Blick überschaubar wirkt, lässt sich damit erstaunlich vielseitig arbeiten. Durch die enthaltenen Primärfarben sowie Schwarz und Weiß kann man eine sehr große Bandbreite an Farbtönen selbst mischen. Die Designer Gouache lässt sich problemlos mit Aquarellfarben kombinieren, was das Set auch für Mixed-Media-Arbeiten interessant macht. This brand of gouache is worth investing if you want to achieve high quality work. The texture is creamy and smooth and if the right consistency is used, produces a smooth seamless opaque look. I would highly recommend although it is quite pricey! Better to invest in a higher quality set than to buy multiple student grade ones that have lower pigment load and poor quality coverage, unless you are starting out with gouache and not sure if you would like using this medium and don't want to spend to much.
