Are the Celestron 12x56 good for bird watching and viewing items in the distance, thanks

I find them pretty good for bird watching from as close as 10 metres to as far as 200 metres. I live in the country and can pick thing out perhaps half a mile away. They did enable me to identify an escaped eagle at 300 metres so I think for the price ok buy. However for stargazing not very good i found.

12x56 for star gazing any good ?

You will see a lot more stars but not the details of any planets. Planets look brighter but not bigger. This applies to most (all?) binoculars. You could probably see the Andromeda galaxy (if you know where to look)

These or nikon monarchs?

I have not used Nikon Monarchs.Celestron very good, small and compact.God weather sealing.
