Is it possible to provide constant power to the unit by keeping a USB charger plugged in at all times?

Hello, Yes, you could use USB cable and adapter to charge SHC1000W. You could decide whether to insert 4 pcs AA type batteries into the unit while using external power supply or not, if you put batteries into the camera, the batteries will act as a back-up in case of power outage. We do not recommend to our customer using rechargeable batteries as the power would consume faster than regular ones. Therefore, we suggest using regular Alkaline battery with our camera.
