Bring on season 18!
The Simpsons season 17 was released on 1st December 2014. Every season since season 11 has been dedicated to a specific Simpsons character and this time the DVD is dedicated to Sideshow Bob and both the artwork and the episode selection menu reflects this. The packaging is in the same style as usual and features a lovely cardboard pullout showing the characters from Springfield showing up to the opera. The DVDs themselves are placed inside the same usual cardboard sleeves so be careful not to scratch them. The trick I’ve learned is to fold each section before taking a DVD out/putting it back in. The booklet has a nice memo from creator Matt Groening. This season is really entertaining and I enjoyed every episode. Some highlights are the episodes The girl who slept too little; with Lisa struggling to sleep when the town’s graveyard is moved next to the family house, Treehouse of horror XVI; which has a nod to A.I with Bart being dumped out in the woods to live alongside other rejected pieces of technology, Marge’s son poisoning; Bart and Marge’s relationship blooms until he realises that he’s becoming a mummy’s boy, The Italian Bob; the return of Sideshow Bob with his new Italian family, and a son who’s a chip off the block! It has one of the funniest quips of the series with Mr. Burns sending Homer to Italy to pick up a new sports car and Homer responding “that’s the car I think about when I make love to my wife!”.The Emmy award winning episode The seemingly never ending story; shows the family telling the story of how they ended up stuck in a cave with Mr. Burns, the Texan and Moe, Homer Simpson, this is your wife; featuring the brilliant Ricky Gervais in a wife swap reality show, trying his most pathetic attempt to woo Marge, The wettest stories ever told; a trio of stories of naval bravery, Girls just want to have sums; when the school becomes divided Lisa pretends to be a boy so she can do proper Math, The monkey suit; questioning the right to learn both creationism and scientifically proven evolution.Every episode features a commentary from cast and crew. Creator Matt Groening appears in just 5 of the commentaries out of 22 episodes. Be sure to select deleted scenes where possible for selected episodes.Special features are; Disc 1 – an intro from Matt, Sketch gallery, animation showcase, a bonus episode from 2014, Disc 2 – Let there be music (a short documentary on how the music for the show is put together), Sketch gallery, Disc 3 – The great ones (all the favourite intro titles and couch gags), language feature, Disc 4 – Live! It’s the Simpsons - a read through of a script, where we get to hear the cast and crew reacting to the jokes before the episode is completed. The only annoying thing is having to sit through the 20th Century Fox title each time you put the DVD to play. It may be less than 20 seconds but it gets tedious after you’ve watched it about 22 times!A must for any dedicated Simpsons fan and a joy to watch!

Another great season
If you're gonna watch this DVD you'd better not have anything important planned in the next few hours or so, because you just won't be able to stop watching long enough to do those important things. This season contains some great episodes, my personal favourites being "The girl who slept too little", "The Italian Bob", and "The wettest stories ever told" Another great touch is the inclusion of the season 25 episode "The man who grew too much" Sadly the bonus episode doesn't have a commentary, but that's a small loss for an episode whose season won't appear on DVD for another 8 years. The jokes are good as well. I love the variations of Homer's "Why you little..." line that appear in this season, such as "Why you very little..." when he strangles 2-year-old Bart in "The girl who slept too little" and the old-timey "Why thee little..." heard in "The wettest stories ever told"One negative thing I have to say about the season 17 DVD is that the season itself is almost 10 years old. The seasons only get released on DVD a year at a time, so if you want the current season, number 26, on DVD, you're gonna have to wait another 9 years. It can't seriously take a year to put a DVD together. I for one would like to see at least 2 seasons released per year, because them the DVDs would have a chance to catch up with the show. All in all, this DVD is a must have for any Simpsons fan. The episodes are great, the commentaries are great, the special features are great. The only let down is the fact that you'll have to wait until next December for a season 18 DVD.

Not exactly classic episodes, but some are decent... Fans of new & old will be entertained. Recommended :)
Quality of episodes dropped off a few series before hand but there's a few good episodes scattered through some of those series (including this one)I've got all the rest of the series on DVD, and have bought each one brand new upon release so getting this when it came out was inevitableFully recommended to Simpsons fans of new and old

The best season IMO
Oh. My. Gosh. This may well be the best season of The Simpsons that I have ever watched! Critics hate it, but i love it. The box did come damaged, but I got a replacement and the amazing episodes makes up for that. We see homer meeting his "real" dad, marge in a million dollar heist, lisa learning spanish and the return of... SIDESHOW BOB! This was worth the money sooo much. I am so impressed with what is said to be a terrible season of the simpsons! I am getting season 18 for my birthday and cannot wait for 19 to come out( If season 18 sales are high enough). If you love the simpsons then BUY THIS!!!!!

The Final DVD-released season of the Simpsons with great extra features
The makers of the Simpsons never put out complete series collections like this without a fair amount of effort. All episodes have commentary from writers and voice stars and there are loads of additional features. Even the DVD menus on each disc have well animated and funny jokes if you allow them to play through. It's a shame that the 17th season is the last of the Simpson's TV shows to be released in physical format (although Season 20 is available on Import versions), but the first seventeen volumes provide a stunning record of ground-breaking animation and satirical comedy on feature-packed discs.

Nice, if you like it.
I myself do not like The Simpsons, but bought this for one of my sons for Christmas. He loves it.

Another Classic Season
I don’t care what ‘critics’ think of The Simpsons, i’ve been watching it since I was a kid, it makes me happy and always gets a laugh. It’s guilt free, easy watching tv with a vague moral compass. This season is no different and sees the return of loads of much loved Simpsons classic characters like Sideshow Bob and the staples of Treehouse Of Horror and a Christmas episode.Just sit back, relax, and enjoy it for what it is, a feel good tv comedy for all ages.

SO WORTH IT
I'm a collector of the molded head dvds and finding this one at this insane price was so relieving! Wish they had season 16 molded head though

European DVD players only
It was not obvious from the listing that this DVD would be unplayable in North America. So far, it has not been played. It is a Zone 2 DVD. Which would be great for Europe, Japan and Greenland. These discs are only good for coasters in North American.
