Brighter than expected (better than the original Halogen bulbs)
I liked the fact that these bulbs give off a good quality of light and are incredibly bright 50w ( and then some)exceeding expectations. They fitted perfectly. When they are in use, are pleasant enought to look at (aesthetically). The SMD LEDs are far superior to any other ones I've used (so far). As with LEDs in generally, they run without getting hot so safer than halogen on several levels. Apparently halogen is being phased out. I think this generation of LED makes it very viable switch to this latest lighting technology. If there is anything that could be improved then it would be the aesthetic appearance when switched off. As you can see from the picture there are lots of little square looking yellow/orange things. To be honest you don't generally notice but in daylight when switched off these little squares aren't the best looking feature of the product. Almost gave this a 4 star rating because of this but I don't think it would be fair for such a great product.Have only had the product in use for a few weeks, no problem so far.Had some earlier LED bulbs and they only lasted a couple of years. Need these to last at least a 8 months to pay for themselves... generally the reviews I've read suggest that they will easily surpass this.At this point I would definately recommend these LED bulbs for anyone who has spot lights or a lamp with spot lights and wants to reduce their power consumption or simply make it safer (not hot). Great for kids lamps.

Almost good
The two out of the three that still work are great, really nice lights. One of the three literally stopped working and fell apart, came home to the glass front on the floor. So some quality control issues but if you get good ones they work well

Brilliant
Though the length is mentioned as 58mm, it fits well into the existing "50W holder" with no excess ‘overflow’ out of the rim of the holder. Any increase in height seems to be aesthetically concealed in the convex front lens with good optical result. The luminosity is indeed brighter than the outgoing (gone!) 50W ‘flat-front’ bulbs. The illumination is not glaring white that one might expect on a regular white LED – it has hue of ‘sun’ to it which befits the name.Once switched off, the after-glow lasts between 5 and 50 seconds between the 58 LEDs in the cluster and I love that ‘good-bye’ salute! The individual LEDs that take longer to douse out are the same always. After about 2 hours bulb gets hot only to less than 70 degrees Celsius, which I have known to be the bearable temperature with bare hands. We are now using only 18 Watts in place of previous 300 Watts in the kitchen, contributing less to global warming, directly and indirectly!I will increase the rating to 5 stars if the longevity is good which would be another few years by which time more advanced technologies could be in place.I will consider buying this again. As for the seller (The Light Factory) the delivery was prompt with timely communication. Packaging was good. As for the carrier (Yodel) there was no breakage – they left it with my neighbour as instructed.

Much better than Halogens
These warm-white 3W lamps are *very* bright and perfect for recessed ceiling lighting due to having a very wide dispersion pattern (wider than the widest halogens) due to the flat nature LED arrangement. This also means you're not constantly working in your own shadow - my pet hate of halogens. My perception is they are easily brighter than 50W halogens. This may be down to their flood angle. The colour is superb, again being better than halogens in my opinion. Whereas halogens give off a harsh yellowish light, these are much more natural with a very very slight yellow/pink-ish hue which is much more pleasant on the eye. Having said that, I must emphasise that the light is a very natural(?) artificial(!) light and not 'daylight white'.As with all LED lamps, turn-on time is instant, so no more groping around in the twilight for 5 minutes waiting for Compact Flourescents to warm up.All in all, a superb lamp and far superior to cheaper LED lamps, which are still giving LED lighting a bad name.I don't understand why the big chains don't sell quality lamps like these at reasonable prices, even the brands don't match this quality at 3 times the price, but that is to the web entrepeneurs' advantage and good luck to them!

Excellent product originally - now outdated
Excellent in every way. I have run 14 for about 2 years with no failures to date.------------------------------------------------Edit (May 2018) - rating reduced from 5 to 1 star! Today I purchased a box of 20 x 5W GU10's for just £13 from the local DIY store. Not expecting much but they turned out to be fantastic, and just 65p each vs. £5 for the Minsun. I guess that's technology for you. The Minisuns give a harsh white glare and because the light comes from an array of LED chips they do not cast clean shadows or "sparkle" off shiny surfaces. All these problems have been fixed in more modern designs which use a single bright LED and a lens to give a defined beam, plus a warmer colour temperature. Sorry, but the 19 Minisun GU10's in our kitchen (total cost £95) are heading for the bin (same fate as the 19 GU10 CFL's costing £10 each years ago...).

1 of 3 doesnt work
Out of pack of three, one of them has broken already. So, as with another reviewer, they're a bit rubbish. When they all functioned, they gave a nice light, quite diffuse, spread over a large area (not particularly focused) and not as bright as the original halogen bulbs that were burning my head but pretty much exactly what I wanted. But I cant look past the fact that one broke.
