Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority

I was really looking forward to receiving this book, but after a quick read I was sadly disappointed with its contents. There is nothing in this book that merits anything in the way of plaudits: The information given is obvious and must already be known to virtually anyone with even a passing interest in cosmetics and their successful application. The book is then needlessly padded out with boring details about 'a day in the life' of various people involved in the beauty industry. Really, who gives a stuff about their yoga classes and macrobiotic diets? Certainly not me. Frankly, the best thing about it is the beautiful cover photograph, everything else is just a big yawn.

This book is very educational esp to those who don’t wear makeup everyday. I would share it with my daughter . It’s helpful in shopping for the quality makeup and tools. In the long run, this book will help your save money. No need to experiment on different brands coz everything has been suggested here. I would highly recommend !

Great detail and step by step instructions

J'appréhendais à l'idée de l'acheter (je n'avais, jamais osé lire d'ouvrage en anglais). Cet ouvrage à usage semi-professionnel, est rédigé dans un anglais très accessible. Le vocabulaire est simple, le choix des photographies est pertinent. Tout y est traité, du kit sourcil, en passant par l'usage des différents pinceaux de maquillage et la protection solaire. Je n'avais pas vraiment lu le descriptif sur amazon.fr et j'ai été ravie de voir qu'une partie de l'ouvrage était consacré au traitement de la chevelure. Je n'ai pas été déçue. Je craignais de tomber sur une publicité redondante des produits de la marque sephora, une sorte de manuel de vente pour les employées de la marque. Mais pas du tout. Toutes les marques vendues par l'enseigne y sont représentées. Je voulais absolument connaître le point de vue de l'enseigne sur les différentes questions traitées. Aucun sujet n'est en reste : la cigarette, les produits favorisants les irruptions acnéiques. Les types de peaux : matures, noires, peau de blonde, de brune... Ce livre en papier glacé est fait pour durer. N'hésitez plus !

I bought this used but looks brand new. So much information in a very creative and fun layout. It capsulizes on the many designers pivitol points and inspirations. More information than I had expected. It isn't a book that makes you feel like you must buy a zillion products to look nice. Great tips. Well sectioned. It doesn't matter if you are a make up artist or just someone wanting to learn a variety of techniques. this is really good.
