Being a tinkerer, rather than replace for £300, I opened it up, cleaned it etc and thought about changing the tray drive belt, but didn't because a similar repair on a cassette deck hadn't worked. THe CD drawer still didn't open after the clean but a bit of Googling suggested this stuff might work. As I also had a squeaky transmission drive belt in the car I thought I'd get some anyway. Somewhat to my surprise it works very effectively. You don't need much. Just a quick spray. The drive belt feels a bit stickier at first and then dries out. OPens at the touch of a button now, as before. I have to say it worked a treat truck sounds like it was when new. Ok so while truck was running I sprayed the top side of the belt not tones but not sparingly either a good coat .
