EDIT: After some testing with new parts and tinkering with settings, I've figured that the main issue stemmed from the RAM, not the motherboard. I've never used DDR5 before so maybe it's something to do with that, but I've found it impossible to use at full speed and have it be stable. Never ever use XMP. I've learned my lesson there. Also fixed my issue with boot up times/lighting not starting properly by messing with ErP and Fast Boot settings in the BIOS. Glad I get to use this board, it's got wonderful I/O and it's simple enough for what I need. ORIGINAL: Just built my new PC and this motherboard has given me the most issues out of any parts by far. To start off with the bad, it has some power issues, fan lights will often not turn on or off alongside the PC, it takes a while to start up most of the time, and I can not use my RAM to its fullest speed. Using the motherboard's built in XMP with 4x16GB DDR5-6400 MHz RAM causes only crashes when using the PC. (memtest shows 0 errors with the RAM itself.) Games will crash quickly and sometimes the entire system just blue-screens or freezes, and every time it's related to the XMP, and I know this because going to a lower XMP profile, it works fine. Still a few crashes but it's never anywhere near as bad as using it at full speed. This motherboard also just has some build quality issues. USB-3 plugin came off with the connector, making the pins exposed. Thankfully it still works, but that's definitely not reassuring when it comes off that easily. As for the good, this motherboard has a lot of I-O. 4 USB 2.0 ports on the back for your keyboard, mouse, etc. is always nice. Lots of USB 3.0 ports and also tons of slots on the motherboard itself. The NVME storage is very nice and has a good built-in heatsink for them. The motherboard itself also looks super clean, and is incredibly simple to install. This motherboard definitely has a lot of potential, it's possible I got a faulty board, and if I get more problems I'll definitely end up getting a new one from a different brand. But, if you wanna take a chance, then this one could definitely work. For now, I think there's a lot of issues that need ironing out and if you plan on getting high-end parts, you may want to look for something with more assured quality.

This is a great up grade with a i9 16 core and with the 32g DDR5 6000 clockd at 30 it is super fast.. the Z790 can handle all of it with no problems.. it has a lot of ports for everything I need. I have always use MSI mobo's but the Gigabyte offered a higher Ram speed at 7800 you want the highest ram speed you can find so I know it will handle the 6000 Ram with no problems and stay cooler not working hard.. You never want to match the numbers of your parts at the highest numbers because everything thing will be running at there max all the time to keep up making a lot of heat in your rig and wearing everything out quicker.. So make sure to match the parts to were onething is not maxing out the others..

This is one if not one of the best motherboards I've ever bought for LGA 1700 it was super easy for me to update my BIOS. Connectivity is great I feel like you could improve by giving us more accessories like even stickers would make the experience better

I needed a reasonably-priced board to upgrade my wife's computer to Windows 11. Unfortunately, the older machine was one Intel generation behind to move to Windows 11--even though it had TPM 2.0. If I were rating Microsoft on this project, the company would get one-half of a star. Guess the old Core-I7 machine will run fine on Ubuntu's latest version. In any case, the board works fine with a 13th generation Core-I7 processor and 32 Gbytes of RAM. I added an Intel graphics card, and the machine is more power than she needs as writer, and it handles graphics well, too. Perfect match for the job!

This motherboard did all intended purposes for my first build, it seats all of my components very well and as far as aesthetics go.. it’s fine. The software for driver updates and RGB control is convenient and worked well with my fractal pop air case. Fan controls are also good, no problems there. Bios is functional and has decent tweaking options. For someone building themselves especially the first time, everything is appropriately labeled and it is very easy to get running. The performance after benchmarking was excellent. My only negatives about the motherboard are really the audio performance, the audio is just okay. If you’re someone who prioritizes audio and works with a lot of audio whether it’s through editing/streaming or gaming then you may be wanting more out of the audio. Not that it’s horrendously bad or anything but it’s just basic and something you would’ve expected a little more from out of an aorus elite model especially a z790. Taking into account that you get DDR5 support on this; the price point is good. Some people like DDR5, some don’t, but if you do then you’ll be happy with this motherboard. You also get wifi 6 if you install the kit for that, I didn’t because the kit looks horrible (just my opinion) and if you’re looking for an aesthetic build then the wifi 6 kit will probably not be something you’ll want to install. You could probably hide most of the kit if your case is big enough but I’d be worried about the functionality if you don’t give the antenna enough space to do antenna things. For the price point it’s definitely a good motherboard to consider, it supports all of the recent GPU/CPUs and DDR5. In retrospect I probably would’ve shelled out more $ to get something with better audio capabilities and a better looking wifi 6 kit if those were things I’d even considered when deciding on my build (If you didn’t consider them yet, consider them now!) Not at all disappointed in my purchase, it’s doing its job and doing it well. But if you’re going to make a beefy build make sure the quality of all parts of it are just as high end.

I had ordered a motherboard previously to this one for the Eagle by gigabyte and it never arrived yet it was marked as delivered. In hindsight I think it was a blessing because the Aorus Z790 is a beast. My son’s pc was outdated and I wanted to get him something that would last a long time. This thing has a ton of room for expansion. Easy to install ssd cards, ram, cpu, and peripherals. Fits comfortably inside an NZXT H6 Flow case. Great purchase for what I needed. Just a shame pc parts have sky rocketed in the past 7 years.

At first i didnt upgrade the BIOS as that can always cause problems. But the GPU and M2 980 samsung i had, was not recognized in the bios so didnt have a choice but to update. Ran the update through ok and it rebooted like 5 or 6 times, then went dark screen. Left it for a long while and nothing. So rest and removed flashdrive. boot back to bios and screen keeps flashing blank, uh oh, other than that it says it updated. I know, i will reflash it !!! Hold on there, not so easy, go through same process QFLASH and says cannot read file ! Deleted files and recopied, same thing ! ended up finding an article that says have to reformat the drive each time, so did, recopied file and QFLASH read files and reapplied. This time took just a few minutes and booted back to BIOS menu. Phew! Now the 7900XT and the 980 and recognized and all good to go. Have to say the onboard wifi is sweet, coming from a USB variety that gave me 40-50mb on 5G now on 500mb. Using 7900XT, 14700K

Great board, DO NOT INSTALL GCC!!! The board itself is great, bought 2 of them in fact so my partner and I have the same build. After 2 years of ownership, the including software called GCC updated and completely crashed my computer. Took me 2 days to figure it out. I even bough new ram in 2025 and that was not the issue. After spending literal hours troubleshooting and trying to get the pc to post, I finally was able to reinstall windows since the multiple errors I was getting was related to drivers (more or less). After installing windows, I downloaded GCC (the Gigabyte Control Center) software and my PC hard crashed again, which is how I found out the software was to blame. I had to physically uninstall the video card, 3 ssd NVMe drives and both sticks of ram and attempt to boot before plugging in a random nvme that I had to format earlier just to get it to post. This GCC software will 99% brick your computer and I am a very experienced builder for the last 30 years. Good hardware terrible software. Just look up GCC computer crashing and you'll see plenty of issues with the software.

Price was so good I mulled over it for weeks before buying. Board packaging was not sealed and obviously opened before but nothing is broken or missing inside. I know cos I bought the same board but the B760 chipset version early 2024 locally and it came completely sealed. A bit disappointed in that I bought it for the 4 m2 and 6 Sata but 2 of the 6 Sata ports are unavailable when I installed the 4th m2 nvme ssd. Funny logic of the board designers in that all 6 Sata ports are only available if a Sata ssd is installed on 4th m2 slot. Still satisfied as I get 2 pcie 4.0X4 slots over the 2 pcie 4.0x1 in the B760 board.
