Well worth it.
I had read mixed reviews about this and thought it's a reasonable price so lets give it a try. Especially when having to remember to take our dogs waste to a bin to dispose of it,and forgetting !!!!. Yes my husband wasn't impressed with the hole he had to dig to get it up and running, but he did it anyway, I have had it a while now, and thought I would now say how I have been getting on with it.and I agree I had to tweek the amount of activator I put in, maybe due to the weather being cold so add an extra capful now, and when I rinse out with buckets of water I may do an extra 1 or 2, and I always get completely clear water to start with, I have never had any trouble with any smell when stirring, and I am doing it 3-4 days completely clearing it, I have a german shepherd and over xmas we had a husky staying with us and it coped lovely with it. we do have a clayish earth and did worry about that but it clears away lovely, but I cannot fault what it does maybe is people tweeked and persevered, amount of water and activator it may help. I agree the lid lugs are not sturdy enough, but that is a minor problem in my opinion. And would and will buy another again if needed.

Surprised at how good it is!
BOught to help keep the garden clean and the bins fresh. I didn't expect any miracles but wanted to give it a go. Have to say I am really impressed so far! Almost no smell - just a faint odour like wet soil and leaf litter. We have a large dog so if it wasn't working it could pile up pretty quick but so far it has done the job extremely well. I think I could have installed it a bit better for quicker drainage but that is all on me, not the product at all.My only concern is that the material is fairly thin - not enough to have cracked at all yet, despite some heavy handling on my part when installing but a good sharp knock or dropping one of the stones used when installing could crack the lid.It is noticeable in the garden but with a few more plants around it I think it will blend in fairly well. Will need to stock up on enzyme regularly but I am very, very happy with this product!

Doubles as a rat's drinking fountain...
Good points - it works and saves you digging further holes in the garden / the unpleasantness of finding previous (filled) holes you'd forgotten about.Don't panic when it solidifies in hot weather; we initially thought about drawing straws for digging out a 2' cube of dog mess but the answer was to get stirring the soup with a large stick (a job no-one else in the family will fight you for). Plus for emptying, don't chuck some buckets down the hole as the instructions suggest unless you're into strange showers - a hose left trickling will displace the broken down, lighter sludge.Bad points - plastic is about the cheapest and flimsiest out there - the lid has three locking tabs and the first broke after a fortnight. Really needs to be made out of a galvanised bucket - might have a go at this next.Plus it has attracted unwelcome visitors; despite surrounding the flimsy bucket with the largest stones, half bricks etc we could find, a large rat has now rocked up to enjoy the proceedings and dug a tunnel down to the base. Nice!

Keep your garden tidy
A very useful product which has solved the problem of how to dispose of solid dog waste several times a day in our back garden. The product is fit for purpose and simple to install, but to do so involves digging a substantial hole which must be lined with quite a large amount of builder's rubble (in our case at least three wheel barrow loads of old bricks). When taken into use there are no offensive odours at ground level and neither does the unit seem to attract flies or vermin. I've since discovered that this product can be purchased cheaper at one of our local pet superstores, so it might be worth shopping around.

Stopped working after two weeks
I installed this exactly as instructed, and it was working perfectly at first for my 8 month old collies waste. The only drawback to it was that I hadn't realised the style of it with the water level meant you had to be very careful not to get splashed when adding dog poo which was horrible but I learned a good technique to avoid this.At around two weeks though suddenly it became solid overnight and despite flushing it several times and even added extra of the blue sachets included and it just went horrible inside and solid. It wouldn't flush anymore and so it's just been a big waste of money and time in setting it up.I was really disappointed as really wanted this to work. I have invested in biodegradable poo bags instead and really disappointed this didn't work.I'll maybe try one of the expensive versions another time as hopefully they work better.

You'll need a LOT of stones - get prepared!
I decided to really go the distance with the hole after reading other reviews. I got the tape measure out and behold! I have a lovely 60 cm in diameter and 70 cm deep hole. The Dog Loo fits perfectly within it when I put the 14 " of stone down - but here's my mistake. I put in pebbles at the bottom... don't. Save those for later. Get those half bricks. Beg, borrow or - well, you get the picture - at least 2 wheelbarrow's full of half bricks. Honestly - you'll need all of them and then some. Put the bricks in first, then the bucket with the lid on (again, thanks other reviewers for that top tip) then go to town with the bricks, cobbles and pebbles. I spent about 3 hours scouring the garden, and £40 buying pebbles (too small) and Cobbles (these, my poo-loo friends, are perfect) to get the loo up and running. I'm still one wheel barrow short of stone. (That's about 5 or 6 shallow barrows in total of the above). So, top tip? Find a builders merchants or building site before starting, or make sure you live near a quarry...Other than that, it seems to be working well. Time will tell so I may update in a few months.
