Bitter taste left behind hours later
I baked an orange cake and used this in both the cake and the frosting. The cake and frosting also had real orange juice from a squeezed orange along with some orange zest. This product tastes really bad. I’m not sure what chemical is in it but I had a piece of cake at supper yesterday and all evening I had a bitter taste in my mouth. This morning I was fine. This evening I had another small piece of cake with my tea - same thing. It’s now 11:45 pm and I still have a bitter taste in my mouth several hours later. I noticed that they are using an oil called propylene glycol. This oil could be causing the problem, but I’m not sure. In any case I have thrown the entire expensive bottle in the garbage and this evening I threw the cake in the garbage. What a complete waste of money. I would never use this again in anything. I’ve made the orange cake before with orange extract, but this stuff is not the same. It’s really bad flavoring. It’s possible that some people may not get the bitter aftertaste. It may depend on a genetic trait. It definitely gives me a really bitter taste for hours after eating it. That suggests that there is some chemical in it that is likely not good to be ingesting.
