Hammerite 5092848 750ml Garage Door Paint - smooth white

Garage door paint dries hard, no streaks and a high gloss finish. Will last a very long time

Having previously bought only Hammerite garage door paint, admittedly a while ago, this appears very thin and runny to previous tins.The actual finish looks ok but i'm not convinced it will be long lasting, time will tell.

Really thick paint but was very difficult to apply. I paint carefully without overloading brush and brushing out evenly and thinly but there were still several runs which kept appearing even after brushing out several times.On the plus side it does stay workable for several minutes giving you time to brush out any runs.One coat was enough on sound painted surfaces but two or three coats will be needed on sanded, bare metal,damaged painted areas. Three days total between coats!One 750ml tin is enough for two coats on a single garage door but two tins needed for double doors.

The paint is thinner than I expected and I had to be careful to avoid runs and sags. Having said that, it did cover really well. The tin easily did two coats on a standard garage door and gave a great finish.

The media could not be loaded.  I rolled the entire tin onto my door, and it's still thin. I'd have gotten a better result with a good clean on the existing paint. Now it has crinkled and warped, and I'll have to sand the entire door and start over. After an entire day it's still not dry, and the coverage is appalling. Hammerite used to be great, but this stuff is garbage.

This is a very tricky paint to use. Even if you think you've put the perfect amount on - when you come back later, it'll have run. I repainted my garage door, and the paint ran terribly. I had to strip the door back to metal with a power sander and a wire brush, cleaned with white spirit, primed and reapplied a very thin coat. Even after all that work, it still ran...!
