Not perfect but a real bargain
Not perfect but a real bargain. This is a beast.First the downsides, mine came slightly damaged in the box, one of the plug pins had bent meaning I had to bend it back before it would go into the 13A socket. The screw in holding handle won't go tight no matter how hard I twist it! which is a bit of an issue as it means the whole thing pivots under its own weight when you let go of the black, cable end. It doesn't have a carrying case nor a cutting disk supplied either. As an aside, why don't these things come with PPE equipment? You need earplugs 'cos the sound is deafening, protective goggles are a must 'cos no-one wants to get hit in the eye by a 60mph bit of rock and gloves to reduce my Avon bill would be handy all in a single plastic case for an extra tenner would be an idea? The upsides are huge though. It is built REALLY solidly, it must weigh 7-8 kgs and would survive a ground level zero strike. The motor is extremely robust and powerful enough for the 9" blade to cut concrete slabs with ease. and for 55 quid delivered it makes 4.5" Makitas look like toys.Should last a long time, it's my new favourite toy!!

Excellent when running but dangerous due to a kick on starting. Not suitable for anyone with a nervous disorder.

Nice
A great grinder for such a low price....there is no slow start on this grinder which makes it easy to use as you don't have to wait for the disc to speed up....I have used this make before and found them last for years in daily use and neaver let you down...Only grip is it was supplied with out a plug. Hence the four stars

quality Hitachi grinder for a very good price, what more can i say
Arrived quickly. Solid, quality Hitachi grinder for a very good price, what more can i say. I've owned a few Hitachi tools over the years and expect this one to last the abuse i give it like the others. Some say the start is a bit harsh and are worried it might 'damage' the internals or could be dangerous. Rubbish. This is a heavy duty bit of kit and used correctly all you'll do is change the brushes every so often.

Good value
What a great piece of kit - sturdy and powerful enough for most cutting and grinding jobs. I have not found the start-up surge a problem as mentioned by other reviewers, held properly it's a breeze and nicely weighted.

Lethal kickback
The item comes, not as shown, but without a disc. I needed a decent diamond blade anyway so no big problem there. I'm not usually a moaning mini or a health and safety nut and have been handling tools for fifty odd years, however the kickback on this machine is lethal and I sustained a cut on the leg. This isn't the type of tool that you can afford to take chances with...best avoided!Over two months later...It took a LOT of getting used to and a superior blade but as somebody has suggested, it's a good tool if you're not complacent and give it respect.SO I've gone from one star to three

Good Value Grinder
Happy with the quality. Doesn't have 'soft-start', but then for the price I can live with that. I deliberately waited for a few months after purchase to review this....but working perfectly.
