Bought the series for my husband. He didn't have any bad to say about it.

captivating story

I purchased these as a gift for my Brandon Sanderson books lover and he was very pleased.

My 6th grader ate these up. Has a few mildly profane words in some of the later books, and definitely fighting, which I don’t love, but I trust this child with it, and made sure he understood how the word is often used casually, but can have some offensive meetings (and HE may not say it). If buying for your children, consider if you would let them read dystopian novels like Hunger Games and Divergent— This IS A WAR SERIES. There is aggression and the main character starts out very vengeful to free her people. Later in the series, she does learn to see that not every one in the oppressive alien race is evil and begins to struggle when innocent lives are a casualty of battle. There is one or two places where the character gets a little too flirty. Nothing happens but those parts had me thinking I should have made him wait to read it- but I’m also a parent who doesn’t let my kids watch a lot of tv shows geared for teens, so your take may be different. Some alien characters are portrayed without clearly defined gender, which may raise questions for younger or more sensitive readers. While it isn’t a plot point, it is pointed out multiple times and won’t go unnoticed. I felt it was handled ok in a species context, but some parents may appreciate knowing this and the aforementioned things in determine if it is age appropriate for their child. I have 6 kids, and for me age readiness for this book depends on the child.

I haven't read any Brandon Sanderson I haven't liked, so I'm already biased. But I also recommend this series to people looking to start a Sanderson book but the Cosmere universe seems a little daunting. This are great YA books specifically, as they deal with the concepts of fear of others/aliens and the ability to change and grow as a person. I love a series where there are people actually working towards understanding each other.

I listened to this and enjoyed it. I bought the box set for my 13 year old. He hasn’t wanted to put them down. It has been a nice little break from the tablet.

O box em si é de papelão, bem frágil, mas cumpre a função de deixar bem armazenado os livros. Os livros são lindos e bem resistentes, todos com Jackets e muito bem acabados. Brandon Sanderson não erra.
