Is this suitable for use with silent coat multilayer inside the doors for extra sound dampening? worried it may be too thick.

It might be ok, but as you say thickness could be a problem. Would depend on the car. I used this to cut down the noise in my camper van on the floor in storage spaces. Your best bet is to get something like Dynamat. It's thin, really damps drumming , rattles and road noise. It's not cheap but it sticks in place and works!

This product is fire resistant and perfectly suited for use in an engine bay however it is not recommended that its operating temperature exceeds 100 degrees C. Direct contact with engine parts is not advised.
