A great product for those with dietary requirements but still want that cheesey flavour

I used to get this cheese powder stuff from Holland & Baretts for £3.99 for a single tub until they stopped selling it. In any supermarket stores that still sell it, the price point is typically well over £2 (usually anywhere from £2.49 to £3.99 or more). At £12.18 for 6, it works out at £2.03 per tub, which is substantially cheaper than what can be bought in most retailers. With subscribe and save at 5%, it's £11.57 which works out at £1.92 per tub. The free and easy cheese flavour sauce is the same you'd find in supermarkets, quality is good, and because the tubs are quite small, are easy to fit in most cupboards, so having 6 won't hurt. As a standalone sauce, it doesn't do particularly well, often turning to mush or slop, however, treating it like flavouring powder for meals works a treat. I typically add it after a meal has been prepared, and mix it in, for example, adding it to pasta sauce when preparing spaghetti bolognese, or tinned chopped tomatoes to add cheese flavouring to meals. It also works as a moderate thickener or liquid absorber.

A fine product, I have recently been able to start cooking Lactose-heavy meals for my Lactose-intolerant family thanks to this! However, can be a real pain to cook right, must be stirred constantly and consistently hot to make it anything like you would expect from a Dairy cream sauce, even with the addition of Lactose-free milks. Ultimately, if you are going to make Cauliflower and Cheese, for example - I would boil the Cauliflower (and broccoli as I would have it) for a couple of minutes, to give them a head start on softening, and add a tiny amount of fine flour to the sauce to thicken it. Basically, it can be very runny, so if you have to thick a layer of un-tessellating veg in a tray, the sauce will drip past it over the first 10 mins, leaving a dry half on top and a sodden half on bottom. If you don't like thickening cream with flour, I advise filling the gaps in your bake with peas, diced carrot, etc - whatever removes as much air as possible from the dish's body mass.

This is a powder not got a cheese flavour at all it needs grated cheese

Quick and easy to make, add extra cheese for really cheesy sauce, but great as a base sauce, low fat and perfect

Vegan cheese sauce powder, is great for flavouring vegan tarts ,pasta sauces etc it's also great for thickening this product is mild in flavour but very useful ,if I want to make a cheesey sauce I add nutritional yeast and a little mustard to the milk mixture ,this product is a big time saver .
