PetGear Non-Spill Bowl for Dogs, black

Not fit for intended use
So I purchased this thinking that it was going to be a better quality travel water bottle for my dog, I have had plenty of similar bottles and although they worked fine, they usually broke when accidentally dropped. It arrived and after filling with water I noticed it was leaking, also the mechanism that is supposed to seal when closed and click open when you need water, was way too loose. The end result was that it did not seal and the product was faulty. The replacement arrived and it was exactly the same as the first! NOT FIT FOR PURPOSEafter returning it the seller maintained that it was not faulty and therefore refused to pay my postage, hence this review! Thanks to Amazon UK they have helped me and settled it but No thanks to this seller!

Not perfect but helps keep the floor dry.
I bought this bowl for use by a very slobbery boxer dog. With a standard bowl, she manages to slop almost as much water onto the floor as she gets down her throat. This bowl works quite well for her. Some water still splashes up and leaks out between the bowl and the top ring but I'd say it's an 80% improvement over a standard bowl. The bowl does feel a bit light and flimsy so only time will tell whether it proves to be durable. Some reviewers have complained about the sticky label inside the bowl. I got a fingernail under the edge of the label, gripped the loose bit and ripped it off sharply. It came off in three pieces and took about 20 seconds.

Sadly it’s not a good one 😩
Easy to use and fill. Excellent product. No leaks which is a great bonus.Oh dear….. I bought this just before a trip to Spain and stupidly did not try it out.I had just filled it with water to see if it leaked as my old one did.Anyway, out on a long walk with doggo. Stopped for a drink but little pull out function did not work.I unscrewed it and re screwed and tried again but nothing. I had to unscrew and physically had to pour the water into the container. So it did not actually make my life easier sadly.Took it home where hubby (an engineer) investigated. In his words “ It’s “F****d love”. It would never be able to be used as suggested. As he screwed it back together with his big manly hands, it split! It’s now in the bin.A good idea but not made correctly.

Ferret friendly-ish.
I bought 2 bowls and they had their work cut out for them. I have 2 groups of ferrets who just love to pull their water bowl around, tip it, swim in it and splash all the water out of it, after many failed attempts and buying heavier bowls, putting the bowls in something to catch the water (that didnt work well) I gave in and went with a bowl specifically made not to spill... in theory.I havent had any problems with the lids, my worry was the ferrets would be able to pull them off but they havent. One group took to the new bowl well and have not managed to spill it, swim in it or splash the water out of it. The other group didnt have good results, they were able to hook their paws under the rim and pull the entire thing up and over creating a ferret swimming pool in the bottom of their cage. So for one group its worked brilliantly, but for the other not so much, its back to the drawing board with them! The bowls are good quality and like I said I had no problems with the lids going on and staying on, I think if they were weightier bowls it might help. One major peeve... that damn sticker that takes over the entire base on the inside of the bowl, soaking it helped a bit but be prepared to put some power into scrubbing the damn thing and its glue off the bowl!!

It’s good.... Removing label a pain. Not totally spill proof.
It’s ok. Not brilliant, just ok.It is very light plastic and easy to fill. The anti spill lip is just popped on top.Lost a star as when in the dog van it does dribble some so there’s no real seal. It’s better than a normal bowl but it does leak.Lost a second star for the pain to remove the sticky label inside the bowl. Had to soak in warm water then scrape it and use a Brillo style sponge to remove the glue. A real pain and surely a better way to affix the manufacturers label.First days use so I’ll report back in a few months.Drove 3/4 full in van to Wales for 3 plus hours. Slightly leaked. Great stuff.

drawstring came out of plastic keeper as soon as i opened it
Overall the wee bag is what I expected for the cost. However one end of the drawstring came away from the plastic keeper on the end as soon as i opened it from the package. I had to tie a knot on the end to make it useable and to prevent the string sliding through the tightener spring. It doesn't open and close as easily as it should during use. For the cost I didn't bother returning it but I was disappointed.

Sturdy, does the job. Glued on sticker in base of bowl a nightmare to remove!
Just what I needed for my Bengal cats who love to splash their water everywhere! Time will tell as to whether they manage to get the "lid" off. I'm sure this would be perfect for dogs as intended though (although my own dogs chew plastic bowls). My only gripe is, the round sticker they put in the bottom of the bowl is an absolute nightmare to remove! (Hence lost a star)Please, manufacturer, don't glue a sticker into the bowl! Even after soaking in hot water I still had to really scrape with a spoon to get the glue off (kitchen sponge wasn't coping!) leaving scrape marks on the plastic. Grrrrrr! No idea whether the glue is animal safe, but I hope so as there's still some on the bowl despite all my efforts!

Strong parrafin type smell
Bottle works ok - bit fiddly but for price I was happy with it. But then one day we were out walking and had forgotten our water so drank a bit of this and it was horrible . Maybe it was just a smell rather than a taste , but we have cleaned it lots - and lots since and it still smells the same. Shame cos a great idea.
