Works straight out the box!
Very good wireless card. Very eat to install. I have a system that has moderate specifications and runs both Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7. I put the card into my machine, very easy to do. Turned on my machine and to my amazement, without me doing anything the wireless card worked immediately in Windows 7. The signal strength was strong and after a few weeks of use it has never dropped signal strength or dropped the signal at all. I then booted into Ubuntu Linux (64-bit edition) and incredibly Ubuntu recognized the card and picked up the wireless signal as soon as it had started! Incredible! Again in Linux the signal always remains very strong and never drops. To confirm this product has worked excellently for me for about 4 weeks now in both 64-bit Windows 7 and 64-Bit Linux Ubuntu 11.10. It worked straight out of the both with no human intervention (installing drivers or anything). The card is very discreet. It picks up the signal strength very well, never dipping below 80% (in comparison my laptop with built in wireless in the same room never goes above 50%) and the signal has never dropped, being continously constant through many long-haul usages of the computer (between 12-20 hour uses). I cannot recommend this product highly enough.

Great!
This adapter is pretty darn fantastic. It worked straight away. Just bought a new computer, installed Windows, plugged this PCI card in, and boom. It worked straight away, no hassle or anything. Generally, with stuff like this if people say they can't get it to work, it's either a problem with their computer or a problem with them. If you know what you're doing, this thing will work immediately. Just put the CD in, it installs the drivers, and you have wireless internet. My only problem is one to do with range. I only ever get 3 bars, but only because I'm pretty far away from the router, say 15m ish. And I hate not seeing 5 bars on the corner of the screen. Consequently, I hide the network status icon, and I'm happy again, still getting optimum speeds - the apparent "connection status" doesn't really affect the speed - not really for me anyway. If you want a nice, quick, simple way of getting wireless internet on your PC, and you have a spare PCI-E x1 slot, get this. There's really no point spending loads of money on something which won't do a better job. This was very reasonably priced, comes with nice instructions and everything A great product!

Good Value - But Weak Signal
I purchased this mini-pci card to set up Wi-Fi signal in my flat. The card is so tiny that even when it's plugged in right next to my graphics card, it doesn't block the fan. The included antenna is really tiny though. The card itself doesn't produce much of a signal so you get 1 bar of signal where another Wi-Fi card I have will get full bars. However, this card does work well and is a good value for money. Installation into windows 7 x64 was flawless. This card is Rev. 2 so perhaps some of the other bad reviews were for Rev. 1? The drivers on the mini cd are exactly the same as the ones you can download so everything is up to date. I recommend that when you install the drivers that you select "use windows to manage connections" because if you don't then the TP-Link seems to reset everything to it's own settings. This card doesn't drop signals like some other cards I've owned so it will be useful for those who are playing games. I ordered an additional antenna. The "TP-Link TL-ANT2405C 2.4GHz 5dbi Indoor Omni-Directional Antenna," which has a 2 meter cable and boosts the signal up to 4 bars. [link below]. I highly recommend this antenna as it's under a fiver shipped. It really high quality, does exactly what it claims to do and has a coated magnet in the base so it sticks tightly to the top of my computer case. You could spend the £15 on a more expensive card but it's not going to work any better than this card plus the antenna would still be tethered to the back of the card which gets in the way of the DVI cable and being hidden away in the back always diminishes the signal strength. Otherwise except for a few minor drawbacks, I'm very happy with my purchase all around and I recommend this if you're on a tight budget. 10/10 Absoloutely amazing.
It goes without saying this is without a doubt the best domestic wireless adapter out there, i've tried Belkin, Linksys, Edimax a whole host of manufacturers but unfortunately they do not deliver on all wireless needs. the TP link TL-WN781ND is easy to install and configure the standalone software that comes with the hardware is better than the windows zero configuration (XP) or Windows config 7 + 8. It allows for customization of profiles and advanced tweaking within. The onboard statistics and internet netowkr information make it easy to tell your computer from the additional network machines. If your running a web server/media server this device has an equal strength to a standard ethernet cable around 150MBPS showcasing an impressive download + upload speed with no drop outs from a 50 foot router distance. If your looking for a card that wont let you down, this is what you need. For the money you just can go wrong.

For me, it did not work.
I knew I should have spent more on something like this, but I went and purchased this anyway, stupidly trying to ignore the bad reviews somewhat. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and this card didn't work for me. I got multiple blue screens and when my pc wasn't blue screened the performance was erratic to say the least. I couldn't get more than a poor signal in windows, where as my Macbook Pro gets an excellent signal. It would often not even connect to my router (Sky Broadband). Using Speedtest.net to test my internet speed I could only manage 1.3MB\s, where I would normally get 7.5MB/s through my Macbook Pro with an Ethernet cable. I tried the various drivers from Atheros and even tried the TP-Link ones as a last resort. I also tried to find some third party firmware but I didn't think it would be worth the potential voided warranty. I also tried changing the channel on my router but that didn't help, and why would it? Other wireless devices work great (phones, laptops, other PCs). Anyway, after all of the various fixes suggested on here (drivers, different PCI-e slot, etc) I could not get this to work properly. Perhaps I'm just unlucky, or maybe it is to do with the revision of the card itself. Mine was Rev 1.0, I believe there is a Rev 2.0 which might be what the people who have had luck with this card received. I don't hold anything against TP-Link because their other products seem to be good quality (from reading reviews on the higher up models). However, I think they may have skimped on something with this one. Quality control, drivers, I don't know, but there are definitely two groups of people who receive this card: those who receive good performance and others who do not. Despite all of this I was very pleased with Amazon's service as they dispatched and delivered it very quickly. I have also gone through the pain free process of returning this and will post it today. I instantly received my refund (through a gift certificate, you can choose money or gift certificate) and will put it towards a better quality wireless card which I should have done in the first place. If you're not running Windows 7 64 bit it may be worth purchasing as it's cheap, but keep in mind that there's a chance it won't work for you.

Does the job, but not entirely well...
I purchased this wireless card for my new PC build which I completed yesterday. Installation was a breeze, simply popped it into my spare PCI-E slot on my motherboard and secured it in place, no cable required. Software installation via the disc included is also extremely simple to get setup and connect to your home network. The downside of this card is that it is under performing for me quite badly. I constantly get 1-2 bars out of the total 5 in Windows 7, and browsing/downloading is awfully bad. It's not to the point where I can't browse, but compared to everything else connected in the house, it's slow. My laptop which I place right next to the desktop in the same position somehow receives 4 bars at a constant level, so I'm not sure why this TP-Link card is being so slow. I am planning on purchasing and connecting a powerline to my desktop now, because downloading 10GB game files to my desktop is just unbearable with the speed I'm getting. Most likely I just have the card in a bad location, there are multiple walls and 1 floor separating my router, so that may be the reason. Overall I'm happy with the products' ease of use, but for my setup I will require wired connection instead, so just be warned if you're card is in a bad location for signal!

Excellent wireless PCI Card
I have only known Netgear PCI cards and USB dongles and had to replace my USB dongle(Netgear WG111 as it was broken. I read several good reviews about the TP-Link but was very reluctant to buy . Netgear and Belkin were the only two names that came to my mind. However after reading the several favourable reviews put out here by many before me, I took the plunge. Installation of the PCI express card was a breeze and I was able to notice very good speeds (download speeds of 10-13 mbps. I have 2 PC's , one on the same floor of the SKY router(this uses the TP link card I got now) and the other on the floor above(uses a Netgear WG-311 PCI card). Both have reported similar speeds and I am very pleased. (Note:PC on the same floor as the router has the rear of the PC up against a hard wall, and still there is NO drop in signal strength) Very strangely the PC on the floor above the router uses the Netgear-WG311T card had a very good speed boost just by using the TP-LINK wireless client utility (CD Supplied ) - instead of the Netgear one .I am guessing the TP-LINK client utility by itself is much more advanced piece of software kit. I would most gladly recommend this card as it is very good value for money and the signal strength is rock stable at different times of the day. My system config are as follows o/s - Windows XP Professional SP3 on both PC's Router - SKY Sagem (the black colour one) Signal Strength : 15mbps ( as shown in the SKY router admin). 1st PC: Dell Vostro 200 with Intel Dual processor 2nd PC: AMD Phenom 4 - quad core processor

Foolproof and Effective
So simple, even I could fit this and get it running on my old desktop tower. Just followed the instructions, being careful not to touch the circuitry and it installed using the provided disk. You must tell the Computer not to install it automatically. Otherwise...an absolute doddle. It was ordered along with a separate antenna, which has not arrived yet (different seller). It still picks up a dozen local routers and compares favourably to the old HP Laptop Wireless operation that I also use. The price was incredibly low,in fact it was the cheapest I could find. Does all I need to use the Internet. Has the ability to connect me to another ISP when my regular goes down for maintenance and suchlike. It is also switchable (on the fly) without having to restart.
