Excellent iron, less maintenance faff, works as good if not better than other steam generators
Loving my new iron. I have had 3 steam generator irons which have only lasted 6 months to 2 years! They have been a huge saver on time but didn't last very long. This product is new. However, Morphy Richards have a warranty of 3 years which is reassuring. It irons as good if not better than the steam generator irons I've used before. What I love about this, it has an autodescaler setting which is really simple and only takes 3 minutes. 😊👍🏼 What is also great, there is no dried residue stick to the plate which I have experienced right from early usage of the other steam generators. So overall, a lot less faff of cleaning the plate and manually descaling ❤️. Hallelujah 💪🏼😊

I made the decision...
After 20 years of good service, our trusty old steam iron started tripping the house circuit breaker; it was time for it to meet its maker. I read some reviews and decide on this Morphy-Richards steam generating model. We’ve never had one of those before, and when it arrived, my wife looked at it with some mild alarm, great big thing that made noises like a barista style coffee machine. Don’t want to sound like some “She does the ironing, I watch the footie” lazy bloke, she does the ironing watching the footie while I wash her car...On to the review, because the steam is generated in the base, the iron is lighter than a traditional steam iron and the time between refills is a lot longer, in fact one fill will do a whole week’s ironing, rather than the 4 or 5 refills required before. But the real difference is the amount of steam: ironing takes 30% less time. The machine itself is self cleaning and only requires tap water, so saves messing about with de-ionised water, although the instructions say you should use 50/50 tap/de-ionised, we use filtered water from the kitchen tap and all seems fine. Everyone who uses it remarks on the speed at which you can get ironing done, it really makes that much difference. In terms of build quality, the plastics are well fitting and look to be built to last, the temperature dial is the only slightly disappointing thing, it feels a bit flimsy and does not have the iron with the dot symbols like our old one does. Most clothing has these symbols, it’s not a deal-breaker, but as this is the major user control, just a bit more quality here would add to the overall feeling of good build quality of the rest of the machine. Overall, a good purchase, I am hoping that it is even half as durable as the last one and I’ll be happy.

Nice item but extra steam button is a nusciance
Yes it’s a nice iron with a longer cord/steam pipe than others which makes it easier to iron. The biggest problem is that the my wife has small hands and for her to grip the continuous steam button, underneath the handle, she has to move her hand forward on the iron which means she catches the extra steam button on top of the handle. This is a problem since extra steam gives a extra burst for a few seconds and then you have to wait about 5 seconds until continuous steam resumes. My wife kept thinking it was broken as the steam was intermittent. I don’t why they didn’t make the top steam button less sensitive or move it further forward to it need a deliberate thumb press. In the end we returned it and bought a lesser model without the extra steam button which is fine but the cord/steam pipe is now shorter which requires more accurate positioning of the iron base with respect to the ironing board

Great so far.
Has worked consistently well for over six years. I use the distilled water from the reservoir in my condenser tumble dryer when I fill it. I think that has stopped potential failures due to calcium build up in my hard water area.

Good Quality Iron
Have been using this iron for a while now and i think it is spot on. I love the constant steam you can generate and love using the iron on a weekly basis. Still work in an office so it is usually 5 shirts a week and a few t-shirts that I would have worn at the weekend. The cord is long enough and it isnt too heavy. I like the locking mechanism as well. Makes light work of the ironing and would recommend.

The Only Thing it Flushes is your Money
I previously had a Morphy Richards iron which worked well so I upgraded to the new model based entirely on the adverts billing it as "entirely self cleaning." Wow, amazing and convenient. To quote their description of the product, "Auto-Clean prevents limescale clogging the soleplate. No cleaning or filters required. No need to struggle to keep your steam generator clean. Limescale is automatically flushed from the boiler and deposited into a separate part of the tank. All you need to do is pour away." This turned out to be utter hogwash. Despite using the cleaning function, it lasted all of a few weeks before spewing rusty water and then not heating up at all. This happened during lockdown making it next to impossible to return the dumb thing or get any help. The weight and bulk are not exactly convenient either. After giving up on reaching them and reading multiple reviews with the same problem, I realised the issue may be due to limescale buildup, and you are supposed to use of mix of 50/50 tap and distilled water (which is not mentioned a single time in any advert or anywhere I can find Amazon or the company's website before purchasing. I found it in the user manual after trying to figure out why it stopped working. Thus, we are now back using the original iron and I have a new and expensive £220 piece of heavy rubbish. The product is not self cleaning, it doesn't flush limestone, and I say it boarders on false advertising to bill it as such if you have to use distilled water to make it function. What exactly is it flushing if you use distilled water? The answer is your money down the drain. Save it and don't buy.

Pre-used, dirty , with damaged iron surface and scale around steam holes
This arrived yesterday in a opened box without paperwork-warranty and manual. The whole unit was dirty and dusty and clearly had been used. The iron was damaged with missing coating and scratches and there was scale around the steam holes.I tried it once to see if it would be ok but rusty water poured onto my sheet.
