I live in the USA (110/120VAC, 60z) and bought this for a trip to Italy (230VAC, 50Hz) because I was bringing one device that was rated only for standard US voltage (all others rated 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz). I don't own an AC generator so I was unable to test this converter until actually landing in Europe. I tried plugging the US-only rated device into the correct socket (for conversion), and it simply didn't work, so I let it be. I tried another device, a hair straightener (again, rated for 100-240VAC) in the converter socket, and at first it worked, but quickly got very hot and stopped working entirely. Keep in mind this device was used daily on standard US single phase, single pole for over a year with no issues.. I stopped using the converter and relied on my cheap basic adapters for the rest of my devices on the remainder of the trip as they are rated for both US and Europe - no issues as usual.Unfortunately after returning to the US, both devices no longer work and the cost of both combined is greater than this converter was...If you have devices not rated higher than 120VAC and/or need voltage conversion for your devices while traveling, look elsewhere

Happy with the response and refund offer.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This product seemed to work great when I got it few months ago. I was looking for a converter smaller than the one I have right now which is the length of my hand. This one fit the bill, being palm-sized and having slots for two voltage choices. I started using it for a while with my laptop and my phone, which keep charge longer with a converter but don't need it to charge safely. After that went well, I tried it with my devices that are not dual voltage, using them on the lower voltage setting. Both devices burned out on first or second use, simply not turning on afterwards. Would not recommend as it doesn't actually seem to do the job of converting voltage based on the results.

A fine product that worked the way it was supposed to, and I did not draw and easy breath until it did because I was in India, sleep apnea and a CPAP, unfamiliar foreign electrical outlets.THANK GOD this produce worked as advertised. Unlike certain products I could name, like those Chinese made fake-o "compressed wheat straw" shaving razors that are obviously made out of plastic.

We used this is both Italy and Greece, was easier to use in Greece because of how the outlets there are set back in the wall a bit, but that’s not saying much, it was very hard to use in Italy, especially depending on which way the outlet is directed (up and down or sideways). The attachments are flimsy and do not securely fit on the unit, so depending on which direction the outlet is set, may or may not fall out of the wall, and the unit is big in comparison to the attachment so it never securely goes into the wall. The power in both countries is different from the US, so stuff didn’t fully charge overnight, ever. Gave it a 3 because it was better than having nothing. Definitely wouldn’t be able to use for a hairdryer or something large, we ended up only using for our phones since the unit wouldn’t stay in the wall very well, and anything big like a hairdryer that would need to be moving around would have knocked the unit out of the wall.
