A Must-Have for Expanding Your Home Security System!
After noticing an increase in break-ins in our gated community, many of which were captured on Ring cameras, we decided to extend our Honeywell Home alarm system to include our courtyard gate for added security. These sensors were the perfect solution, and Iโm thrilled with how well theyโve worked. The installation process was straightforward once we paired the sensors with the compatible wireless transmitter (we used this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002MA8GKW), and the system programming instructions provided by other reviewers were spot-on. The sensors integrate seamlessly into our alarm system, and once added, they function the same way as the other wireless window or door sensors in our home. However, I did encounter a minor issue during installation. Initially, we mounted the sensors directly to the iron gate, and this led to a problem where the sensors would randomly activate, causing false alarms. After some troubleshooting, we realized the issue was due to an interaction between the magnets in the sensor and the metal of the gate, which was triggering the alarm. The solution? We mounted the sensors with a small insulator (just a piece of plastic or rubber - see pictures) between the sensor and the gate, and since then, the system has worked flawlessly. For the past 4 months, weโve had ZERO false alarms โ just the peace of mind that comes with a secure gate. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking to enhance their homeโs security, especially if you have access points like gates or fences that need monitoring. A few installation tips: ensure that your alarm system supports wireless sensors (most systems installed within the last 20 years should be compatible), and if youโre mounting these sensors to metal surfaces, remember to use an insulator between the sensor and the metal to avoid interference. This was a relatively easy, inexpensive way to expand our system, and we couldnโt be happier with the results. Hopefully, this little tip helps others avoid the frustration of false alarms and the need for multiple trips from your installer.

Easy to use
I used the magnet sensor with my ESP32. It worked really well. Setting it up was easy with only 2 wires. The magnet sensor respond fast in my project.

Simple
Needed a sensor for an old roll up door. This worked perfect. Easy to install.

Short cable but made it work.
Worked great but definitely needs a longer cable with the cover on it.

Woks great. Built to last.
It is an overkill for a home garage but the tiny sensor provided by a smart device I am using was too sensitive to the distance placement. This sensor has a better range to detect the door closed. It is built like a tank. Definitely worth the purchase.

Solid construction. Easy to mount. Low profile
Application: Installed on main garage door because the garage door opener does not detect manual lifting of the garage door. This is used in conjunction with alarm system.

Perfect for my application
Used it to trigger an alarm system I installed on a box truck, super durable good quality for sure.

Perfection.
I just got a new garage door installed with a Chamberlin Opener. The Chamberlin is locked to their cloud via their app. By rigging a Shelly device up to a remote and mounting this magnetic switch to the door and into the Shelly device, my door is now 100% controllable locally on my home assistant. This magnetic switch works wonders for my setup and is easy to mount. Highly recommend.

Does a good job
For my door I had to pick a spot where the the two parts (magnet and sensor) wouldn't be damaged as the door opened and, at the same time, making sure the spacing between them was small enough for the sensor to switch when the door closed. I made a wood bracket to hold the sensor and attached the magnet to the edge of the door and had a gap of around 3 cm with the door closed. This worked perfectly. So long as you can figure out a good mounting place I highly recommend this item - it's nicely made and well protected.

Perfect for the job
Yes it costs a bit more for this sensor switch, but who wouldn't want something that's strong and well built for the garage door? It works perfectly and you can see from the pictures that it's very easy to install above the door rather than on the side.

Works well, good range
Required some careful consideration to determine exactly how I wanted to install these with my garage doors. There are no instructions or diagrams provided, so be prepared. The provided bracket could have worked, but I ended up locating them along the side of the doors for a cleaner looking installation. I screwed the sensor flat to the wall next to the door, and the magnet screwed to the side of the door. The sensor itself is extremely sensitive, which is great for this application. I noticed after test fitting the magnet, the residual magnetism I introduced onto the adjacent steel cable was enough to solidly trigger the switch even without the magnet. Pretty impressive. I've already got them wired up to a PLC which will email me when the doors are left open, so I'll know pretty quickly if these switches ever fail. So far so good.
