If, like me , you have a passion or even an interest in country sports and rural history and particularly if you use traps for pest control then this book is an invaluable guide for both the professional trapper and those who wish to learn about trapping. It is also extremely useful for those of us who collect antique and vintage animal traps. This book is an absolute must for your collection. McCullough's book primarily covers in great detail the various methods of trapping and the type of traps to use. So, this comprehensive book is of use for readers who need to trap pest species such as rats and rabbits and for people simply interested in the use of traps. It has a wealth of detailed information and numerous illustrations and prints. It really is the " Bible " for all interested in trapping. Bought as a birthday present for my boyfriend. Had a quick flick through to see what it's about and I noticed a lot of spelling errors/typos. Other than that, I'm very impressed with the quality of the book and the pictures seem very clear and easy to interpret.

Large book with lots of pictures. Detail is very good and shows you egactly how to do everything. It's going to be a perfect gift my my hunting friend.

I enjoy learning new skills and the information in this book is a testament to our ancestors enginuity, imagination and practicality.

great book lots of detail in all sections

This was a good book that taught a lot of practical advice about trapping and catching various furred animals and such. The biology was a bit off in a few places, mostly in regards to broad animal behavior such as characterizing lions as preferring human meat and so on or not understanding why weasels are so aggressive. However, I have no doubts that if someone wanted these furs, or needed to know how to process them, they could do so using the tips in this guide and that is where it shines: the practical areas. The downside is a lot of this is cobbled together with exerpts from various legendary trappers of a century ago or more and as a lot of them were very good at what they did, you get some repetition. All in all though, a book I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to learn how practical trapping works.

The images aren't good and the models of trappers aren't so extensive.
