Very satisfying
I was browsing my Facebook page, when I saw a 30 second video on ugears products. They looked amazing and knew I had to try them as I love tinkering and making things. This was my first ugear product and what an amazing quality product it is. When you open the box, there isn't a millimeter of un-used space. Everything slides out of the box, including the wooden parts and separate cocktail sticks and instructions. The instruction booklet is 90% useful and easy to understand diagrams with no words, 10% wordy descriptions of things that need explaining on the more complex parts (like setting your own code for the safe). Most of the wooden parts pop out with little effort, although sometimes, the smaller parts can be a pain to take out and can splinter slightly. I always kept a little bit of sandpaper available for these rare occasions. I would also suggest getting a candle before starting this project, as every moving part needs to be "lubricated" with wax. After many hours, very sore fingers and many silly mistakes, I finally had this together and it looked even better than the pictures show. The fact that it really worked as a safe was wonderful and it had a great weight to the door. It has now taken pride of place on my main shelf in the front room, along with another of their products, the 20 minute timer.I highly recommend this product to anyone who likes to work with their hands and make something from nothing.

An excellent product
This was the first UGears product that I have bought. The quality of the wood, and of the laser cutting is excellent. The step-by-step instructions are thorough (if a little small). For some of the smaller pieces, UGears have provided spares (which proved useful). I would suggest that after reaching Step 7 on page 14; that you check all 3 discs catch and turn. (Part 48 needs to be pushed halfway through disc II, not flush). The instructions show the placement of the Dollar Sign ($) the wrong way round (mirrored) - it can be placed the correct way round. There is a YouTube video of the Safe Assembly (running 2hours 30mins) by UGearsUS. All in all an excellent product. I enjoyed the assembly process, and the end product looks good and works.

Very impressed. Complex model and nice finished product.
Very impressed with this kit. It took me 4/5 hours to finish. The instructions were pretty clear (detailed colour images and multi lingual) and the kit was solid. After working with previous kits I was worried about breaking it, but it's very solid.Only issue I had was trying to slot in the last panel (it just wouldn't line up right) and involved me shaving a few edges with a craft knife. Also be aware that if you miss certain bits at certain times you won't get a chance to go back. You will need to take your time to do it properly, but the time spent will be enjoyable and rewarding.

IMPRESSIVE!
If you expect this quality product to be straight forward, think again! If it were not for the imperfections in the diagrams, this would be easy enough, but if you like a challenge, are patient and are able to overcome obstacles, this will make for a good construction. Some of the diagrams are misleading and you can end up all in a tangle if your not careful (so no glueing), but if you're intuitive, detirmined and can follow your instincts, and you'll get by (just?)It would probably be a good idea to thoroughly read through as if building and write question marks with useful comments alongside diagrams that appear contradictory or even missing in some places so when you come to actually build, you'll already be aware of the inconsistencies and errors.I am half way through and little annoyances aside, I am thoroughly enjoying constructing this little safe. I hope I am successful?I will update when and if I accomplish the completed build.Update! Finally completed after about six or seven work hours. Thumbs and fingers are sore after the testing of the lock mechanism. I did rub candle wax on moving parts but the movement is still stiff, not sure if that is because it's made of wood or because it's new and just needs breaking in.Word of adviceTake nothing for granted and double and triple check connectivity before going ahead. After all of the above, I am completely satisfied with the end product which I'm sure will attract some attention by curious admirers.

Great product, lots of fun to make
Amazing design and it works really well. Obviously pay close attention to the instructions - we made a couple of mistakes mixing up very similar pieces and it's tricky to take things apart again (though possible). We also broke a delicate piece but were able to glue it.

Nice looking but didn't work well
Quite tricky to fit all the parts together. Too hard for a 13-year-old. Ingenious design, but it sticks and didn’t work well. I would consider a similar product since the quality of the pieces are good but was a bit disappointed by the safe.

Brilliant fun and amazing build quality
absolutely brilliant! Ended up spending some time across 3 evenings building this......a grown man should not get this much pleasure from building little wooden safes, but the inner nerd kicked in and joygasim. The actual kit is really well made and even the little bits came out of the sheeting easily, not one bit broke which is even more surprising as being a 6"4 man with massive hands, I'm not the most gentle person. Also with this kit you get to learn and understand how the locking mechanism works. So would highly recommend getting this......I'm now going to see what kit next to buy from these guys

Safe, harmless fun!
An outstanding way of passing the time. Took me longer to piece together than I'd care to admit (around 4 hours including tea breaks), but the enjoyment (head scratching) had while building it, and the sheer satisfaction felt upon its completion (pure relief) brought back the kind of emotions not felt since being an active member of the cricket team that absolutely thrashed our local rivals back in the day. Much like that game I shall undoubtedly add the experience to my repertoire of meaningful life lessons, condensed into anecdotal stories that I regale people with from time to time; occasionally as a solemn, meandering reviews on the internet.Cioa.

Quality puzzle, lots of fun to build, good locking mechanism! Would build again. :)
After completing a bunch of ROKR wooden pieces, I decided to give another brand of wooden puzzles (UGEARS) a try. I picked up the Model Safe Kit to compare its build quality, instructions, latch mechanism, and final product to the ROKR safe.Note that these aren't actually puzzles, there are step by step build guides. You're not meant to figure it out. In fact, if you can figure it out without the instructions, then wow! :OTotal time of this build: 4 hours 45 minutesDifficulty: 4/10 (would've been 2/10, see notes)Overall Rating: B+ (up from C- in the first few pages, see notes)I started this build and immediately noticed the quality compared to ROKR. The wood is a lot less refined (read: more rough), and when popping pieces out you tend to end up with some splinters on the table. By the end of the build, there were lots of splinters. The frames in which the pieces were set also broke easily, which actually made getting some of the smaller pieces out a lot easier, so that was a plus, despite the small mess it made.I rated the difficulty of this a little higher than normal due to the first about eight pages of the instructions. While not actually difficult, fitting some of the really small support pieces in place inside the box was actually quite difficult to push them into place. I ended up using a thick sharpie to help press them down into each hole. Given there wasn't much leverage, and I didn't want to break the large wooden pieces, this turned out to be trickier than I expected. The first seven pages took about two hours due to carefully making sure the right pieces were in the right place and putting in all those darn support pieces.Once I got to step 8 and the build of the door and locking mechanism, things went a lot smoother. The steps were clear and the mechanism was well designed. At this point, the only annoying part was the toothpicks that served as the central shaft of some of the turning pieces. It would've been nice to see metal shafts provided for this like other brands do. The toothpicks did NOT fit the holes as provided and each one needed to be sanded a bit to be able to slide through multiple pieces. Once that was done, though, everything came together. The instructions for setting a code on this piece were just as confusing as first as the similar ROKR piece. However, for this one I picked the default 321. I ensured the door opened multiple times using this combination (very detailed written instructions are provided at this step) before moving on.Once the entire piece was assembled, I was quite happy with the result and bumped my personal rating up. Sure, some of the initial instructions and getting things to fit were annoying, and the toothpicks were a minor setback to sand, but in the end it's quite a nice fit and finish of a piece, minus a few splinters sticking off that I sanded. It even has a little slot in the top for coins and money to be dropped in, as well as "emergency opening instructions" should one find themselves locked out. Quite a nice touch!Final verdict - early in the build I didn't think I'd buy another UGEARS piece but now I think I will if I find something that interests me. It's a large "puzzle" that provides a good amount of enjoyment to assemble and a satisfying mechanism to play with to unlock and open the door. Quite pleased!Addendum - I actually lost whatever wax block they may have provided me (cleaners came, so I moved all the pieces to my office), so I used all natural saxophone cork grease. While not the same, it still allowed for fairly good lubrication. We'll see if it holds up, and if not, I'll wax the pieces that need it later on.Addendum 2 - No pics included since there are plenty in the reviews already from others. :)

Nice wooden safe
Product was real fun to assemble, although the fit of the part was a bit tight for a perfect fit though (i used a hammer to softly tap parts , protected the part by a small piece of wood)
