Great push your luck, quick to learn, quick to play, works well at 2 players as well as more!
I love this game! I wont write a detailed review as there are plenty out there, but I will say this is great if you are looking for a quick to learn, quick to play, game that works great with 2 players as much as it does 5. There are only cards, so no pieces to worry about losing. The double sided cards work great and are a nice feature. This is a small box and travels really well - I took it round Italy and we played in various bars and accommodation. It can take up a small amount of space on the table so great for any occasion. The price is super cheap and no cheaper elsewhere. Even our American cousins can't get it cheaper over there (in fact it's more expensive) so grab this bargain while you can!

Nice game
Nice push your luck game that can be enjoyed by all the family. The game has simple rules and is quick to play, have played with children as young as 6 and they have no problem understanding the game. The game box is small and travel friendly and the components (cards) are of okay quality.

Cracking Easily Portable 45 Minute Game
This is a great game for 3-5 people (2 is OK, have played with 6). It's fun, compact, easy to learn and feels quick because there's no attention gaps, you get a chance to act in everyone else's go. We play it a lot and this is a second set for son to take to uni. It appeals to regular gamers and not-really gamers alike. It's worth ditching the plastic tray (for space) and sleeving the cards (2 5/8ths x 3 5/8ths inch sleeves). Port Royal is a push your luck game; you can take "ships" to give you money or buy the crew / assets you need a) get your victory points and/or b) give you playing advantages. And other players pay you commission for your leftover cards. But turn over two ships the same colour and you blow your turn. First to 12 victory points including an expedition wins.

Very fun push your luck game, best with 4 players.
Wow. I brought this as a little filler game for playing with some of my gamer friends and it has now become a office staple (I work in a geeky office). Easy to teach and once you've got the hang of it easy and quite quick to play (although I've had a game hit the 45minute mark). Seems best with 4 players I wouldn't bother with less than 3. My only niggle is the box is kinda big for the game which is about the size of a deck of cards. Excellent push your luck style game play. definitely worth the low price.

Great card game that encourages you to take a chance to win!
Brilliant push your luck card game, hours of fun. Start with 3 coins (the back of the cards are the coins) and draw cards from the deck to build up the harbour. Collect funds from the value of ships and/or purchase visitors, however getting 2 of the same ship type means that you have to discard everything you have drawn (imagine busting in a game of black jack, same result) and then it's immediately the next players go. This game encourages players to risk big but there's still reward for taking a quick payoff. Game ends when you collect 12 victory points, which happens sooner than you expect, definitely will get several games played after the first. I love the artwork too, very fun and doesn't distract from the game itself.

Great little game, so clever, easy to learn, a real crowd pleaser
I really love this game. It's compact, cleverly designed, and easy to learn. Best for 3-5 players, though I have played it with 2 and (at a stretch) with 6. Instruction sheets in German and English are included.

Enjoyable Pirate Cards
An enjoyable push your luck style game. At first glance the instruction manual seems daunting with many different rules to learn, but once you're up and running it gets easier. The mechanics are straightforward, and you can never go wrong with a Caribbean Pirate theme!

Un piccolo gioiello!
Preso in un negozio specializzato, dopo aver letto e visto recensioni, a 9,90 โฌ. La meccanica รจ quella del "push your luck". Consigliato!

Alexander Pfister does it again!
What a great little game! I was already a fan of Mr. Pfister from Oh My Goods! and the Revolt in Longsdale expansion, so I had to pick this up. Where Oh My Goods! was a big game in a little box that puts you into the engine-building mindset, Port Royal is a simple, yet elegant, push-your-luck game for 2-5 players. This is one of the best push-your-luck games in my opinion, especially as you are invested in other peoples' turns since you get the opportunity to interact with a card (if you can afford it). I won't explain all of the gameplay here (it's best covered at BoardGameGeek), but suffice it to say, if you are looking for a new little card game, look no further than this. Also, be sure to import it so you can get the expansions that are out there. Steve Jackson Games have stated they currently have no plans to do the expansions. That doesn't mean it won't happen later on, but for now, you may as well play it safe and just import the base game. The card size and art matches the expansions, so it's a no-brainer. And do buy at least the One More Contract expansion! It adds new card types that are easy to mix in, and the contract element allows for co-op or solo play, while adding an optional element to the competitive game as well.
