Brilliant for teaching your child to learn to read.
This book is excellent. It teaches your child the phonetic sound of each letter and set of letter blends, which is vital for learning to read. It has a really sweet story which goes with each letter sound, and really bright colourful pictures. Each letter sound and blend have a hand action with them which makes this learning fun. My son asks me frequently if we can read 'jolly stories'! I would really recommend this book to parents wishing to give their pre-schooler a headstart in learning to read. As a primary school teacher I think this book is fab!

Must buy for little readers
I was really impressed with the content of the book. It follows the school curriculum, using the same sounds and symbols as are taught in class. The stories are funny and held my 5 year old sons attention which was a definate plus. It has raised letters in the book for children to trace over with their finger to practice how to write the letter. Each page focuses on a different sound.

Oddly entertaining
I bought this shortly after my son had started school and it was enthusiastically received. If I'm totally honest I'm not sure why he likes it so much but he does. It is regularly his book of choice for bedtime, even though he only gets a few pages at a time (1 sound per double page, generally) and he doesn't get to go past the sounds they have covered in the class (at his teacher's request) so this often doesn't cover a sensible section of the "story". Although the storyline seems somewhat contrived the illustrations are excellent with lots and lots to talk about, all linking in to the sounds being featured. It has been good for his confidence (and ability) to try reading the featured words as well. I think when he's looking at it by himself he uses it as a bit of a reference guide for the letter formations and actions. Perhaps there is just something inherently attractive in the presentation as my toddler is fascinated by it too. (She points to the words and asks him to read them to her! Other times she "reads" it herself.) Altogether, as bemused as I am about its huge popularity I am also delighted as it is a useful educational tool.

Kids read this all the time
Great book with engaging stories and fun activities on each page. The educational value of this book. Is great. It has a letter to finger trace on each page, sounds for each letter or combination of letters and an action for the children to remember. This is taught in uk schools too.

Best starter to learn reading
This book is a great starting point to engage my daughter into reading letters herself. She is in reception and has had her confidence knocked down as she was not progressing fast enough with her reading. This book gave her the confidence to feel she actually can do it. Amazing book with lovely little stories and a lot to discover on every page. Has arrived really quickly once ordered.

Perfect
Bought this as jolly phonics is recommended on my sons new nursery/school website. It runs beautifully along side the jolly phonics music cd I also purchased. I am really pleased with this purchase as it is already making my son ask about words and letters. The pages are interesting and colourful with plenty of activities to keep children interested whilst learning. Would recommend to anyone else who's childs school follow this way of learning the alphabet and first words.

Fantastic story book
Great product. Stories for each jolly phonics letter. Blending words down the side of each story to help your child with their sight words and also pictures to find within the page. My 4 year old loves the jolly phonics and is learning them in school. The book is bright and filled with all the jolly phonics characters to keep her interested. Great for learning at bedtime.
