Great resource for Tailoring
The book arrived in good condition. It’s a useful resource to have as a student tailor. It came recommended by a tutor, and in preparation for my course in making a tailored jacket. I high recommend the book as it has lots of detailed information and images along with useful tips on the construction of the garment and what to pay attention to, such as, testing fabric for purpose, adjustments to pattern, problem solving, handy tools and equipment to have and how to use them correctly. The tailoring techniques I find very good.

A wonderful book for the advanced dressmaker.
Tailoring is the ability to take a thin fabric that is properly cut, interfaced and interlined, so that clothes looks as rich and confident as a much heavier fabric. This is an excellent book for dressmakers who wish to move on from advanced sewing and pressing techniques into the different but professional world of tailoring. It doesn’t cover pattern-making which is a whole other skill that takes years to learn, but it does provide ways of adapting patterns and making clothes fit better so they look professional; it bridges the gap between home-made and handmade; something I battle with all the time. This is not a book for a beginner but for people who already understand how to create good clothes that are properly cut, stitched, pressed, eased, interlined and under-stitched. It even explains the proper use of pinking shears: which exist to thin-down seams, (not to prevent an edge from fraying as I was taught but could never understand). Learn to steam-ease a waistband without making darts, learn three different methods of interfacing, learn how to cover poppers so they are less visible, discover how to thin down and under-stitch bulky seams. Fantastic photos, clear information and explanations of three different methods of garment construction throughout; dressmaking method, tailoring methods and an in-between level - all in all this is a really useful book.

Brilliant book on tailoring
This is a brilliant book showing you lots of techniques for sewing a tailored garment - coat or jacket. It takes you through the 3 primary methods of tailoring, provides advice on choosing the fashion fabric and lining and the other supplies and tools that you might need. It then guides you through preparing the pattern pieces, fabric and lining ready for sewing and then provides details on each step of making the garment such as how to create a patch or a welt pocket and how to attach the under and over collars. Everything is very well explained and illustrated. An absolute treasure of a book. One word of warning. If you already own a copy of the Singer Sewing Reference Library Tailoring book then there is no need to buy this book too as they are identical to each other 😀!

Full of clear, colour photos, and step by step suggestions.
Excellent value for money. This book is packed full of easy to understand, clear colour photo images of the essential stages in constructing a jacket. I needed it to check that my rusty skills from many years ago, were not forgotten and to update the ones that remained in my cluttered mind. Really good step by step instructions I.M.H.O. and whilst I also consulted another trusted vintage book on tailoring, I am well on my way to making a jacket to fit both my proportions and my high standards.

A must book if you are tailoring
I was struggling with a jacket pattern so I looked on Amazon and having seen 'inside' decided that this would help me. The reason? Every stage is shown by pictures, really clearly. There is also different ways to add interfacing, classic, machined and fused. When I came to my pocket welts, I decided that the material was too thick for double welts so I followed the instructions for a single welt pocket. There are instructions to show you how to add a half lining and a full lining. It's a sensation and I have it open all the time on my table alongside the instructions. It's saved me in what has been a challenging make.

Fantastic book but not so fantastic condition
I did a tailoring class years back but forgot everything I was taught. This book is brilliant easy to follow easy clear instructions with lots of photographs with clear illustrations. Downside was the book looks like it has been stored for a long time as the plastic film is lifting on all the corners and some of the edges, and looks like it will lift on the front cover too so really not happy about that, when I order a new book I expect it to be in perfect condition.

Utterly brilliant
I have lots of tailoring books, being a tailor, this is possibly the best I've seen for those who are learning. Good photography, straightforward instructions. Good value.

A must have for those who love sewing their own clothes
This is a must have for those who love sewing their own clothes and don't want the 'homemade' look - lots of photographs so even a novice sewer can follow along. Also provides advice on fabric selection, interfacings and linings as well as an extensive section on proper pressing. Plenty of useful advice for getting the perfect fit. It covers three kinds of tailoring: custom (traditional), machine, and finally fusible. A great teaching tool for the new sewing enthusiast and a great reference for the more seasoned sewer.

Tailor in the making
This Tailoring book has a wealth of pictures, steps and information on why things are done a certain way. It also shows several methods to fuse things (fusible, machine and custom). You could just look at the pictures and get the idea or concept.

Muito didático
O livro é muito minucioso. Específico para quem quer construir um blaser. Embora seja em Inglês, as fotos são muito explicativas. Mostra passo a passo todo o processo de execução. Para mim, vai ser muito útil.
