Toshiba TY-CKM39(K) Portable MP3 CD Cassette Boombox with Am/FM Stereo and Aux Input Black

I bought it fo the name Toshiba. Really just needed a portable cd with speakers. This is beautifully built boom box has everything. I am not sure if I will use the cassette player or the radio. However its main purpose is to travel with me where ever I go.Sound is good as to be expected with smaller speakers. Loud with quality sound for a small music box. Everything is easy to use. Looks like the small quality boom boxes in the 80s. The price is the best of it selling features. It totally is worth the price.

I do not usually write reviews but felt I needed to write one on this WONDERFUL little Toshiba cd/cassette/radio “boom box” due to What I think are unfair negative reviews it has received. This boom box is excellent! It’s versatile, extremely sturdy and well-built. A few reviewers said it was difficult to operate. What they did not note is that this boom box has LOTS of functionality most others in its price range don’t offer! If you spend about 5 minutes and take the time to glance over the very easy to understand instructions included with the unit, you will not have any issues learning to operate it! The instructions are in 3 different languages - English, Spanish, and French and each language has its own separate set of instructions.About the functionality: You can program up to 20 different radio stations. You can also program it to repeat one song/track on a CD, repeat all of the tracks, or random play the tracks. Not only does it play cassette tapes but it also records! You can record from a CD or the radio OR from an external “audio product.”Several other reviewers stated that this unit has a “tinny” sound. I agree that it does sound a bit tinny but almost ALL smaller, portable players do AND if you want to hook up a better speaker to this unit, you can do that too through the AUX IN terminal!Best of all, to me, was the surprise remote that is included! It’s a cute, tiny little remote controller WITH a battery already inserted and ready for you to play! This is the simplest way to get started. I used the remote to start playing a CD while I glanced over the directions. :) That’s how I learned about all of the other great features and functions this little, extremely low priced unit has!I am extremely happy with this boom box!

The Toshiba TY-CKM39 boombox is exactly what I needed to replace an 80's boombox that still worked but was much too big and cumbersome. So far all the features work...CD player, cassette player and radio. I had purchased another brand but the cassette player stopped working shortly after receiving it. Hopefully this one doesn't do that too! It has adequate sound but there's no way to adjust bass or treble if you wanted to do that. For my use it's ok the way it is as I mainly use it for background music while I'm doing my projects...the volume goes quite high and I can hear it many rooms away from where I have it plugged in. The function buttons are easy to understand and see. For the price I would say this is a very nice boombox for every day use.

Earlier I ordered and received a radio and found it was such a low quality one. It felt cheap and when I turned it on, I found it has really bad speakers. Sound was as if Charly Brown's teacher speaking.Toshiba is well made and looks and feel like a very expensive radio. I think Toshiba radio is better than higher priced Sony. CD and Cassette players worked well too. If you read instructions carefully, setting up radio stations will be very easy. Sound is great. Speaker sound was as good as my old Bose radio. For less than $50 , this is a great buy. I strongly recommend the Toshiba Radio to anyone.

Got this for my mother..she loves it...she can use her old cassettes with it, sound is great...the radio works great...the dvd player easy to work, all the modes can be easily accessed by my senior mom...just wish it also had a clock and alarm on it...but it does the job...portable...and easy on the eyes, the anodized red color, beautiful. Well constructed, nothing cheap about it. Pleased right out of the box with the look...even happier to find it works great. Big sound. I also got this in a blue color...ditto ditto goes for the blue too.

This radio was bought to replace a perfect old Sony CD/Radio/Cassette player. We listen to our radio or cassettes all the time in the kitchen, and I was excited about the small size of this boombox. Unfortunately, the sound is staticky or tinny, and has ruined my radio listening while cleaning experience.There is not a way to adjust bass or treble. The cassettes and cds sound better than radio. The pre-programmed buttons make no sense. I figured them out when I first got it, and a few months later, I just went to find one of my pre-programmed stations and couldn't remember how to do it. I also ALWAYS push the fastforward button when I am trying to hit the play button...the button imprint is hard to see and their placement is non-sensical.I would say this radio seems like more of a "toy" than a true musical companion.

I just wanted a little music and a way to play some old French CDs...I searched and I searched, I read reviews, I visited Best Buy and spoke to friends.These things USED to be so simple!I finally decided on this little radio/cd player and it is FANTASTIC !Seriously.I get great reception everywhere, my CDs play well and it's portable. I usually just plug it in but I have used batteries twice when outThis is a really nice little player and so easy to store. Not a hard choice for you because I did the work.Just buy it.!!
