Simple, approachable, doable!

I was a complete novice - had only tried boiling an old nightdress with onion skins! This book has been really great because it makes the whole process simple, approachable, and achieveable. I have already dyed with sorrel, sunflowers, coreopsis flowers and turmeric using an old white cotton sheet and it has been simple, fun, addictive! I have made an iron mordant in a jampot and learnt so much so quickly and I love it😁😁Great photography, layout & editing too, and the book doesn't over-load you with info or blind you with science. I have already defninitely got my money's worth thank you Abigail

Beautiful, easy to use natural dyeing book

This has to be my favourite book that I own. It is a beautiful book. She covers not only how to get dyes from plants but also red cabbage, onion skins, coffee etc. Beautifully laid out easy-to-use recipes and wonderful projects like handstitched coasters and a Japanese harvest bag, an apron and gardeners smock.

A wonderfully written and illustrated book by Abigail Booth on the Art and Craft of using an abundance of organic materials to produce natural dyes. Using foraged and found, easily attainable raw materials the book guides you through the craft of dying fabric and shows the remarkably subtle and variable tones that can be achieved. Through traditional stitching and patchwork techniques the writer creates beautiful, contemporary works of art and utilitarian cloth works of exquisite beauty.

A lovely book to keep by the bedside or coffee table. The style is so warm and friendly with some cute little beginner stitchwork patterns. It's not as comprehensive as Jenny Deans Wild Colour, but I would still recommend this book for someone starting out on a dyeing journey.

A Very Special Guide to the joy of foraging and personal, committed dye work

The story of this young woman who has devoted her life to settling in to the passion and committed art form of dyeing and piecing cloth that she has coloured and prepared for special projects is a wonderful draw for me! I loved the tips and advice in this book, the photographs are amazing and drew me close for a really focused read. I will be having this volume close at hand as I travel the backwoods, the KP Trail near my home in Kingston, ON Canada, and share it widely with friends so that they can have a copy for themselves. Weaving, dyeing my yarns and fibre, creating cloth for quilts and clothing - all will have a new approach now! Thank you!

A beautiful, ethical inspirational book
