A saving grace for those of us with thin, brittle nails! A new nail kit staple
My maternal grandmother was blessed with nails so thick normal clippers couldn't cut them. My mother and - to a slightly lesser extent - I, however, were cursed with my grandpa's family's paper-thin nails. I've only in recent years gotten into nail strengthening supplements & base coats, but there's only so much you can do! Hence growing my nails out comes with relatively frequent heartbreak as my nails inevitably break. One particularly bad break WAY down on the nailbed of my thumb had me temporarily "patching" the issue with gel polish until I could research a better solution; letting it break wasn't an option, as it would expose half my nail bed and be INCREDIBLY painful. This was one fairly well-rated product from a brand I trust so I decided to give it a go. In short, this worked EXACTLY as described and did precisely what I needed it to! The break in my aforementioned thumb nail occurred several weeks ago and has held up (with minor re-patching as it grows out) since. You can see it in the first two pictures with just the Orly Nail Rescue Kit & sanding (thumb photo with the dark background) and then with a clear nail patch sticker and clear basecoat (thumb photo against teal background) as I wasn't initially sure which option would work best to patch the break. Spoiler alert: it's this one! As you can see, in a modest 2-3 layer application where you carefully follow instructions and sand, it becomes darn near invisible. I've included a third photo of another broken nail (photo with the red arrow pointing to where it broke) that received a semi-sheer light pink base. Both patches have held and both nails still intact, with an unfortunately long growing out process ahead of me. If you're going for completely bare nails, you WILL notice a difference between your repaired nail and the others, but only if you're really looking. Under polish, however, you can only really tell that the repaired nail is slightly thicker than the others if you look at it edge-on. Some tips: 1. After you've applied the glue and dipped in the powder, do be sure to give it a minute to dry before you sand it. I recommend using a little nail cleaning brush (the stiff kind you'd use at the sink) to remove excess powder first, then the included sanding pads. This actually gets it pretty darn smooth. 2. I recommend against applying it to the underside of your nail, as tempting as it may be. I did so out of determination to avoid breakage, but I needn't have: repairing the top was enough to hold it. Even with an e-file I couldn't sand the underside of my nail completely smooth & it drives me crazy. 3. If you see the far edge as your nail grows out, you can absolutely glue / dip the new growth to fill the gap. This worked fine for me as long as I filed the top nail bed edge of the existing "patch" to taper it down towards the outgrowth, then filed everything flat carefully after applying the new glue / powder. If I don't do this, the edge is lumpy and I'm inclined to pick at it until it comes up. 4. I'm not an Orly spokesperson (I promise!) but I do happen to really also like their Calcium Shield base & top coat that I highly recommend using on top of the fully cured repair kit to strengthen your nail further. I really have no downsides to this product: it's SUPER quick & easy to apply, the instructions are clear & effective, it sets hard, lasts as long as you need it to, and while my nails haven't grown out far enough for me to completely remove it yet, it gets tacky with a little acetone so I feel it would come off easily when the time comes. I've already recommended this to my mother and will absolutely be keeping some on hand for any future nail breaks!

Excellent for splitting nails!!
I honestly don't know what has taken me so long to buy this product. I've struggled with horizontal splits in both my thumb nails for years now that would always end up breaking off below the skin. I've tried the tea bag method, nail glue, different treatments, etc. but nothing worked and I just dealt with it. I came across this product in Sally Beauty a year ago but hesitated. I decided to finally pick it based on the wonderful reviews that it received here on Amazon. At the time that I received it, I had a horizontal split halfway down my thumb nail that went nearly halfway across my nail. Perfect timing to try this product. I cleaned my nails with nail polish remover, applied the glue over the split (and in the area surrounding it for extra protection), dipped into the powder, and buffed it down. I repeated it a second time since the split I had was pretty severe and didn't want to take any chances. This has worked wonderfully for me! I am shocked at how sturdy my nail feels now. It's been a little over a week since I applied it and it's held up really well. I paint my nails twice a week, and the remover hasn't eaten away at the "patch" yet. For the sake of longevity, I wouldn't recommend allowing your remover (especially acetone based) to sit and soak the area where the patch is, just quickly swipe over until the polish is gone. Even if i didn't polish my nails, the patch is not obvious and ugly looking. It may look a little cloudy though, but it blends in pretty well. The price on this kit is great too at $10. At the nail salon, a fiberglass patch on my split nail costed $7, so this kit works out great. But really, you're paying for the special powder. Nail glue and a buffer you can pick up at the beauty supply or drugstore for a few dollars. The container of powder may seem small, but really, it will last a long time considering how fine it is and how much you end up using, so really you might need to replace the glue after a while if it dries up. Overall, I'm very impressed and happy!!! :)

Cannot recommend for guitar thumbnail repair.
EDIT: This layer started flaking near the string contact in my thumbnail. Five stars for an effective cosmetic if that's your use case. WARNING: would not work if you need the back of your nail - i.e., flamenco techniques etc! Don't let the glue get on the underside of your nail, either. The texture comes out like sandpaper. Review: Yes, it's pricey. That's why I give four stars. Could have been less than $10, but I needed something in a hurry. I recently started studying classical guitar and tore the edge of my thumbnail. I was able to file it back for the most part, but it always seemed to flake near the tear. Just when I thought I was out of the woods, my nail took an impact and a small chunk of the top layer completely popped off. I was able to crazy glue it together for a few days, but the slow peel and flake at the tear kept happening. I decided to give this stuff a shot. I didn't want any kind of wrap or overlay because I want to file the result into shape. It's ugly, and it's rough, but I feel like I have an enamel thumb claw.

Apply a thin coat
Just used the product today to rebuild a nail that was damaged a few months ago due to getting smashed that has now come apart in the middle of the nail with a large hole and rip. So far so good. Caution, use a thin coat of the glue. Mine wasn’t thin enough and the glue pushed over to my skin when I dipped in the powder. Second coat I used a thin coat and that was much better. Follow the steps in the top reviews such as waiting 5mins to touch, remove excess with a brush, then buff, etc. can’t comment on longevity yet, but so relieved this rip and hole is finally filled and not catching on anything!!! It does seem amazing already. UPDATE 5 WEEKS LATER: It lasted 5 weeks! Through dish washing, hand washing, hand sanitizing and even outdoor work. The nail grew out about 3/16 inch since building the fake nail/shell. I could have added more product in the gap to even the height across the nail, but didn’t have any formal engagements I was worried about how it was looking. At about 4 weeks, the edge toward the cuticle where it grew out started to separate, so I applied some clear nail polish to keep hair strands from sliding through slit while washing hair. A week later, I bent my nail down a bit from the tip and, like a lever, it separated at the top (cuticle end) of the nail quite a bit. It was time to remove and with a little pressure, most the shell was lifting up like removing a press-on nail. Near the tender area of the original rip/damage, I slowly worked my other nail back and forth under the “shell” to slowly and carefully separate it more from my nail, then carefully used clippers & cuticle scissors to cut the shell away. One last tiny spot near the tender hole in nail I filed away. While most of the injury has grown out, there’s a really thin and soft edge that was just outside the injury that could use strengthening, as well as a little verticals crack at the tip. I could probably get away with a hardening top coat polish, but to be on the safe side, I used this product again and just did one layer. That way I can let the last part of the damage grow out without fear. I can’t recommend this product enough!

It works !
Got this because I cut my nail below where it would be comfortable to cut it off. I did have to reapply as my nail grew out, but I'm heavy duty with using my hands. I garden and wash dishes without gloves. I was in no way gentle with using my hands. It allowed the broken nail to be able to grow out. I'm incredibly happy with my purchase I totally will be using this again in the future.

Works, if you don't have acrylate sensitivity
Okay so I am the dumb one. I thought this would be great for strengthening my thin nails that break all the time. I was right about that, but didn't read the ingredients until today. It is basically acrylate glue with acrylate powder. I have an acrylate build up in my body from getting gel nails. I have a reaction to all acrylates now. My dumb self thought that this was only in UV curable products. It is not. I woke up at 4 this morning from pain at the corners of my nails and the swelling and rashes have started. IYKYK. Use sparingly and with caution as these products build up in your body and never go away. This reaction affects my ability to get nails, but also dental fillings and medical devices. It was a painful mistake to make on my part. These products should be removed from the market as the reactions are becoming very common, are forever, and can be severe. Three stars because it technically does work.

Good stuff
It worked for me to my surprise. I've tried other nail glue without powder and it didn't last long especially after taking a shower. But this kit works! The glue is really strong and the powder makes the bond even better. It does leave a bumpy texture and an opaque appearance. But it didn't matter to me. I just needed my nail to grow past the crack. The bond also stayed strong after taking a shower. Just so you know, that the nail being repaired was cracking in the middle due to a grove in my fingernail. So it had rip right in the center causing it to get caught in my hair, on my clothes or whenever I handled things. I needed the nail to grow out past the crack and form a uniform fingernail. And this kit seemed to solve my problem.

Good product for a clumsy girl
I am super clumsy, im an ER nurse, I do a lot of diy projects and yard work. However I’m also trying to keep my nails at a cute not not crazy length. Regardless I always end up breaking them, especially around the edges bc they get caught on stuff or I just jam my hand into something bc I’m not paying attention. I cut out the nail salon a long time ago due to coat and time, so keeping my natural nails healthy is important but cracking them sucked. Got this and it totally works, especially if I paint my nails after! It’s super easy to apply, drys quickly and once painted over you can’t even tell it’s there. Once it’s dry, it’s easy to smooth over and thin it out to you desired thickness. I will say, it’s not a cute look if you leave your nails naked after, unless you added a thin layer, but you can tell something is on top of your nail. I’ve recommended this to numerous people at work and they say they love it! My big thing is I get to keep my natural nail instead of removing the nail and slapping a fake tip on just to keep my nails even. So yeah! Great product and buying it again

bästa köpet
så enkelt. stryk på nagellim på nageln, doppa nageln i pulvret, skaka av, låt torka, fila med en buffer klart. nu har du förstärkt din nagel där du hade en spricka :) bara att måla nagellack över

A life saver!
I had somehow split both my thumb nails down to the quick. I tried everything to protect my nails to let the split grow out long enough I could cut it off but I kept hitching the nail on things and making it worse. I couldn’t go around with bandaids on both thumbs all the time. Salons were closed in my area due to lock down so I couldn’t even go to a professional to get help. This kit had been a lifesaver. I have had to take it off and reapply it about once a week but I haven’t hitch the split nails even once since I started using it and just this week the split had finally grown out enough to be completely gone. This has done a number on the surface of my nail so now I’ll need to be careful until that all grows out, but it’ll be worth it. I would also recommend getting the remover, I tried with nail polish remover the first couple times and it didn’t work nearly as well as the purpose made stuff.

This stuff works!
I have weak nails. They break easily and flake off in layers. I love having painted nails, and until recently, I have managed to keep them fairly long and looking decent, with the occasional use of nail saver patches. I started to get breaks in my nails really low down on the nail plate during the winter weather (nails always seem weaker in the winter!) The nail patches weren't enough to keep them together for the whole time it took for them to grow to a cuttable/fileable length, and someone recommended this product to me. My first thought on opening was how small the glue bottle is. I don't know how many repairs it will do before running out, but I'll edit at some point and let you know. I read the instructions, and had a go. The nail glue smells exactly like the stuff used in nail salons to mix up acrylic paste, so it might be easy to replace with that? I will probably try it when the tiny glue bottle runs out. Anyway, I painted the glue on, dipped the finger into the pot and the horizontal break in my nail, which is more han half way across the nail, completely disappeared! The instruction say repeat the process 2 or 3 times for extra strength, so I buffed the surface and did it again. By this point, my nail looked a little 'cloudy', so I used my own very fine buffer, which brought it back to looking about 90% the same as my other nails. This was 4 days ago, since when I have had my nails 2 different colours, and even using (acetone free) nail varnish remover hasn't hurt the repair. Once varnished, the repaired nail is completely indistinguishable from my other nails. No lumps, no visible thickness. Brilliant! I have taken 1 star off as the glue pot is so tiny, so the value for money is questionable, but I'll let you know!
