Wildflower: A Memoir

Aurora's story is one of grit, determination and belief in one's self. As a fellow Canadian around her age, I had several tinges of nostalgia while reading Wildflower.Her childhood was less than ideal - bouncing between Canada and Jamaica with an evil step-father - is tough to read, but as she mentions later in the memoir, gave her the strength to get through other hardships later in life.I was transported as she discovered her business - and herself - when she started working with artisans in Africa to make shoes - that led to her becoming the winner of a prestigious CFDA Award!What makes her tale so unique is how all the disparate strands of her life have seemed to come together at the right moment in time to use her voice to push for change on a global front via the Fifteen Percent Pledge. Keep flying Aurora!tl/dr: Fasten your seatbelts - Aurora's life (so far) has had lots of twists and turns that make for a fantastic read!

I just received my copy yesterday, and have not been able to put it down. I’ve followed James’ career from her days as a designer, but I never knew her story. I love learning about how she got where she is. What an inspiration for all women. So empowering.

Aurora James’ willingness to share her messy, beautiful, ineffable humanity makes this book shine. Her description of her early life is generous, unflinching, big hearted and, consequently, stunning.

Aurora James is an inspiring business woman and author. Her book chronicles her incredible (and difficult) journey from childhood to present. I could not put it down. While you might know her from glossy magazine pages or the met gala carpet, she started her business with a few hundred dollars at a street fair and shortly after won the highly coveted CFDA award. She's a business owner and entrepreneur as well as an agent of change. She founded her non-profit in the wake of the George Floyd protests and created a tangible shift in the retail market for Black brands with her 15% CTA. Her journey is inspiring, and at times darker than you might imagine. I highly recommend this read.

From the first page to the end, this book is a very inspiring for entrepreneurs everywhere. Really enjoyed this book. Such an easy read.

True courage is being able to rise above hardship and use your pain to create positive power. Aurora James has done just that. Seeing her create meaningful change despite the obstacles is such an inspiration.

Aurora has a way of connecting and inspiring people, unlike anyone. She is a beacon of light and exactly what we need more of in this world. I have already read her book twice and look forward to reading it again!
