Brilliant harmonica. Easy to play, great sound!
I've been playing chromatic harmonica for a while now, mostly classical music and violin pieces, and I decided to try the CX12 out of curiosity – and I'm honestly blown away.Right out of the box, it looks like no other chromatic. The design is super modern and ergonomic – it feels great in the hands and even better when playing. The mouthpiece is smooth and very comfortable, making clean articulation much easier, especially when shifting between fast passages.Sound-wise, it’s bold, warm, and a bit louder than I expected (in a good way). Notes respond quickly with very little effort, and the air-tightness is excellent. The slide action is buttery smooth. It almost plays itself.Cleaning is also a breeze – literally just a couple of clips to pop the cover off, which is a huge plus if, like me, you like to keep your instruments in clean condition. Some people say it’s better for jazz or modern music, but I find it works beautifully for classical as well. The tone is expressive and precise, and the lower register is surprisingly rich.Definitely recommended! It’s become one of my favourites.

An excellent harmonica!
The media could not be loaded. This Hohner CX12 C Key Chromatic Harmonica is a wonderful instrument. It features a unique original design that makes it a real beauty to play! Even though some of the parts are made out of plastic - heavy duty that is - it is very well put together. The "button" works well - its spring mechanism allows for rapid, accurate use. The tone is great, very resonant with plenty of bass or treble whenever required. It also "feels" comfortable, fitting neatly into one's own hands, basically just right. I previously owned a Hohner Super Chromonica Chromatic Harmonica in the key of C, and my opinion is that the CX12 is well and truly a superior instrument, despite both of them being very similar in price. I would just like to add that the harmonica featured in the video is a Hohner Marine Band in the key of G.

I am just getting used to it it. It is very easily disassembled for cleaning.
I like the fact that it is easily disassembled but I have to learn yet how to clean it. It plays easily and is quite loud but the sound is not as attractive to me as the diatonic mouth organs.

Poor quality / faulty
First one got lost in transit, finally had a delivery but no quality checks on this, the slider is very sticky and doesn't return to normal position, I have to pull it. I also have several notes that are very difficult to play, very dissapointed for a known brand, itwil be on its way back shortly.

Great harmonica for amplification through a PA system.
Have owned and played this for around nine months in a local pub band and I would now like to recommend. Chose this model over a metal bodied one having read a few reviews. Basically, if you are going to amplify this via a back-line, PA or monitor (through a microphone and maybe some reverb or even an effects or delay pedal) then it is perfect for the job. Due to the lower-resonance of the plastic shell there is no colouring whatsoever from the harmonica itself; leaving you free to adjust the sound in any required way thereafter. I can't compare, but would suspect the brightness and resonance of a metal bodied version would be heightened once pushed though any PA system or amplification. I particularly like how electronic it can be made to sound, very pure too, almost like the Eurythmics 'electronic harp' sounds of the 80s. Have played it quite hard and so far so good - no blown or stuck reeds. Worth the money, very pleased. Wouldn't like to comment on it as an acoustic-only option e.g. for busking un-amplified in the street.

Excellent harmonica that sounds awesome, easy on the lips, easy to play. A bargain for this quality instrument.

Novel design and good sound but not for me
To me, this looked pretty good in online photos but in reality, the plastic shell is to funky to look serious and not classy enough (ie plastic) to be modern and cool. I know some people are happy with the shell so this is just my personal taste. The tone is fine - between bluesy and jazzy and suitable for both. The curved front for the mouth is a great idea, although after being used to traditional square mouthpieces, it seemed a little strange and took a while to get used to.Strangely, this instrument gave me mild sinusitis everytime I played. I stuck with it having been told it may be my technique. However, I have never really had this problem before and it didn't improve, so unfortunately I had to sell it and now have a Hohner 270/48 (I know some instruments can be a bit tight but didn't want to muck around and adjust things). Irritatingly, moving back to a traditional mouth piece doesn't seem right and I am still adjusting!I know others have not has this sinus problem with this model and I know I am susceptible to sinusitis, so if you are too, just something to keep in mind before buying.
