Delicious and Nutritious Bread
First of all, I don't understand what these complaints are about. You either got lemons, which is not very common, or you do not understand how to store bread. This is Westphalian Pumpernickel bread, which is freshly baked bread that has been baked for about 24 hours at a low temperature in the oven, and packaged with reduced oxygen (and the process to make this able to be baked is arduously long). It does not store the exact same way toasting bread (which is what you will commonly see in American and British supermarkets) does, so of course it will mould up very quickly in the shelf once opened. We have the technology to store this stuff for the long term (freezer), or for a rather short term (refrigerator). We also have resealable bags (Ziploc bags). Figure it out, people! This stuff is great. You need to toast this stuff for quite a long period of time (generally at the very highest toast setting possible) before it's nice and crispy. It is otherwise very intense to consume flavour-wise if it hasn't been heated up or toasted yet. Use cream cheese, tzatziki sauce, sausages, and other cheeses like Gouda, Gruyere, or other aged cheeses and strong-flavoured cheeses. ANY strong toppings/fillings (and even some lighter ones) will complement this bread wonderfully. It's a great open-face sandwiching bread as well, and you could probably make a regular sandwich out of it, too. They are also thinly sliced, so yes, it is expected to see this happen when you start to bend it beyond its usual limits. Again, this is absolutely embarrassing to watch people call this great product a bad one when the problem almost always lies on the user, themselves.

Tasty & healthy
Tasty bread. Toasted with butter - delicious. We also use it to make sandwiches. Healthy bread, better than what I can find in our area grocery stores. No seed oils. Bread is dense but moist. We keep it in the fridge and, so far the longest we've had an open package in there (in zip lock bags) is a week with no issues. Still moist.

Cardboard taste better!
I accidentally took a bite of cardboard one time and find that the remembered taste of the cardboard was better than this so called bread. I admit that I usually do review more bad products than good ones because I expect what I buy to be good and do not review them. This bread has no pumpernickel smell or taste. It a strange shape in that the two loafs stacked appear as one loaf. The bread has the consistency of ground up cardboard that has been pressed into shape and a taste that is unpleasant while chewing this slab of whatever it really is. It only resembles pumpernickel in the color, it is dark brown. Do not buy if you are expecting a product resembling real food.

Tasty and wholesome pumpernickel rye. I recommend toasted. Crumbles easy, so handle with care.

Hearty Rye + butter & coffee=Lumberjack Time.
This organic rye has a strong hearty rye taste, which I enjoy with butter. However, my favourite is the Bavarian organic rye, no longer @ Amazon. The Bavarian uses a sourdough that tastes less crumbly and less dry. If the Bavarian remains unavailable, then I will purchase again because of its authentic rye composition.

Heavy and delicious, toasted.
Simple, clean, tasty, especially toasted and heavily buttered. If you've lived on the part of the world where this is made, you appreciate it. If not, give it a try. Far better for you than the poisonous bread that's somehow legal in North America.

Rough texture / whole grain
I've enjoyed this bread form Amazon and elsewhere. Having nothing to do with my rating, but hopefully useful for other customers: This is not the bread that most people in the US is are used to. It is VERY dense and a very different consistency, VERY whole grain (rough), so may not be what many like. Slices are VERY thin. This also make it more likely to crumble, sometimes get moldy too, in shipping. This is a high sodium and salt bread, so if you are on a salt restricted diet, not for you. My own review, rating related: I grew up on high and whole grains, so used to UN-American rough textured foods like this. While I am not on any salt restricted diet, I find the salt too high for my taste. One of the reasons we use less. At times, crumbling during shipping, and some mold, can be a problem. Also, the price has increased since my last order, now more expensive than other sellers including my local health food grocer, has made me cut the amount on my next scheduled Subscribe and Save order by more than half (60%)...I may just cancel it and get it locally. Hope you find this useful!
