Pricey, but you're not going to find an after-market with quality even close to it!
When I was looking for a portrait battery grip for my D7200 (backup camera), I went with a cheaper, after-market model. It has been okay, but never really felt right compared to the camera.Well... for my D500, I decided to put the money in and buy the legitimate Nikon portrait battery grip. The difference is like night and day! Not only does it fit more snugly to the camera than an after-market unit, it preserves the weather sealing perfectly (tested in some fairly excessive rainfall, caught short without a rain cover or bag to hand). You can really FEEL the quality in the grip. You know when you hold it that the rubberised material isn't going to peel away or let you down at all.I know it's quite a lot of money for some plastic with some buttons and a battery holder, but once you've got it on your camera and use it, you're going to realise that - pricey though it may be - it was worth the cost.Wouldn't buy an after-market copy ever again, that's for sure!

You get what you pay for.
Great product. Does the job well and is a good sturdy construction with excellent grip. MUCH better that the non-Nikon version I've been using.

Nikon quality
Classic Nikon quality. I have owned non-Nikon battery grips for earlier cameras but they have been very disappointing in quality and function. Has its own power switch but this on turns on the battery grip not the camera so two switches to activate, I would have preferred there to be a single switch. Check out Nikon's own website for cheapest price
