Expensive but superior performance.
I recently switched to a whole home purifier to reduce the consumables of the Blueair filters. While third party filters exist, the Blueair ones do seem to be better built and filter better. Many of the Blueair filters are designed with brushes to charge the air passing by so that they are trapped in the filter. I think there is some sort of optimization that exists.

Tried Non-OEM Filters and Regretted It
Made and recommended by the purifier's manufacturer, these are high quality replacements. Yes, they are expensive, but going "cheap" resulted in clogged filters and an indication within 1 month that they were not functioning. I decided that if I spent what I did for the purifier to protect me and my family, spending a little more for best filters was worth it.

OEM filters are the best!
Excellent quality air filter. It's always good to use OEM filter.

FYI re: alternate replacement filters
I don't work for, or have any financial interest in Blueair, but I *have* had 5 different Blueair Air Purifiers for over 20 years now. They all still work fine and look brand new! I've always used original Blueair replacement filter elements over the years and I, like most owners (I expect), am not thrilled with the price of replacement filter elements. I just wanted owners to be aware of something about the less expensive alternatives, though: Many cheaper brand replacement filters use a HEPA filter media to achieve their level of performance. Blueair specifically avoids using HEPA media in their classic filter line. HEPA media restricts air flow, so Blueair uses polypropylene media, which has inherent electrostatic properties. This, together with an ionizer on the air inlet which charges particulates as they are drawn in and causes them to be attracted by and cling to the filter media, allows Blueair to achieve HEPA performance, with superior CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) compared to HEPA filters. If you switch to a HEPA media filter, you will likely slow the rate at which air is cleaned and reduce the size of the area clean air is delivered to. Moreover there is a chance the increased back pressure/load in the purifier can lead to excessive wear on the blower assembly. I have no way to test these comments, all I know is I've had no problems with any of my Blueair units for 20 years of 24/7 use. So though I don't like the high prices, I'm not inclined to switch from Blueair replacement filters. Also polypropylene is considered the safest plastic. It is rated food grade (even when heated), it is recyclable and even if it ends up in a landfill, it does not release toxic substances as it degrades, or when incinerated.
