Finally! A game changer for me!
Wow! Something natural, that cleans great, that smells nice and is safe for stainless steel dishwashers! I can finally go back to a scented detergent! I used GG (Grab Green) for years. In a high temp wash...it worked fine for some time. Lately, it's been leaving spots. Maybe it's my water??? We are careful never to load dishes with food on it, so we only used half a scoop as directed. The primary issue I have with GG is that the only one that doesn't dull the stainless tub was their unscented one. And, I for one, missed the fresh scent that made me feel my dishes are truly clean at the end of the cycle. I've been reading reviews on and off for months looking for a new natural detergent. I came across this one during Prime days recently. Taking a chance on the reviews here, I ordered it. I've now been using it for a couple of weeks and I'm happy that I took that chance! This one smells SOOO darned fresh and leaves my dishes clean...with no spots and leaves my stainless tub shiny. The ONLY downside for me is that it's a little costly. I hope they consider lowering the price some. You can wash up to 80 loads with Grab Green for the same price...this one only does 48 loads. Hopefully, I won't have to start looking for another one again. Well, here we are almost 2 years later and I'm STILL a fan! Due to the price, I kept looking and trying other natural dishwasher detergents since my first review of DL. They couldn't be compared. Some even contained Ethoxylate...so that's a hard pass. That stuff is bad for the lining of your gut! In the end, just I kept coming back to Dirty Labs! I learned that I don't have to use vinegar in my rinse aid compartment with Dirty Labs...that's how well it does in my dishwasher. Glassware is always sparkling clean! I just do it, (when I remember), for plastic containers to help with spots from hard water. To reduce the cost by a couple of dollars, I subscribed and get one on my doorstep every 2 months. Dirty Labs has surpassed my expectations in every way. Therefore, I've concluded that it's worth the money for my piece of mind.

Finally—A Dishwasher Detergent I Don’t Feel Guilty Using on Baby Items!
So we got the Dirty Labs Dishwasher Detergent to try it out—and let me just say, it is bougie. It comes with a little wooden spoon (so cute!), and the whole vibe feels elevated compared to your average detergent. But of course, packaging means nothing if it doesn’t actually work—so we tested it out on two full sets of Dr. Brown’s baby bottle parts: one rinsed, one un-rinsed. See the video for more details :) PROS: • Amazing for baby bottles – Left no greasy residue, even on un-rinsed parts (*except nipples, which required some extra scrubbing afterwards, but I think that has more to do with the positioning of the nipples in the dishwasher vs the soap) • Super effective – Cleaned everything in the load, even stuck-on food • Non-toxic & fragrance-free – No harsh chemical smell or residue • Eco-conscious – Comes in recyclable cardboard with a wooden scoop • Optimized for quick wash cycles – Saves time without sacrificing cleanliness • Modern, enzyme-powered formula – Biobased ingredients that actually work • Guilt-free cleaning – No parabens, no bleach, no petroleum-based anything CONS: • Scoop takes getting used to – You measure manually, which may be new if you’re used to pods or tabs. I imagine manual scooping will probably yield less than the stated 48 loads since it’s impossible to scoop a consistent amount each time. • Pricier than conventional brands – But honestly, worth it for the safety and performance Dirty Labs Dishwasher Detergent completely exceeded our expectations. It cleaned both rinsed and un-rinsed baby bottles flawlessly, left no chemical residue, and made us feel totally confident about what we’re using to wash the things that go in our baby’s mouth. It’s gentle, effective, and made with truly thoughtful ingredients. If you're a parent—or just someone looking to ditch harsh chemicals—this one's worth the switch.

No residue or funny taste/smell on dishes!
This product cleans effectively without leaving behind that gross taste or smell that other products leave. I’m looking at you Cascade 👀 It’s great on even the dirtiest dishes, has a small footprint under the sink, great packaging that includes a wooden measuring scoop, and lasts a long time even for families who like to cook! It’s a grainy powder and the measuring scoop makes it easy to pour into the soap dispenser. Great product, I can never go back.

Effective, Low-Waste Dishwasher Powder (and One Scoop Is Plenty!)
We’ve been using Dirty Labs dishwasher powder for our everyday loads — mostly dishes, glasses, silverware, and plastic containers (we don’t run pots and pans through the dishwasher) — and it’s been working very well. One of the first things I noticed is how little you actually need. A small scoop goes a long way, which makes the jar last longer than I expected. It feels a bit different from pods or gels — more like you’re dialing in the amount based on the load — but that’s been easy to adjust to. Cleaning performance has been solid. Dishes come out clean, no noticeable residue, and no strong chemical smell. Plastics and glassware look good. The packaging is also a plus. No plastic, and it comes with a small wooden scoop. It’s a nice touch, though after a couple of purchases you may find yourself with more scoops than you need. (We’re starting to accumulate a small collection.) Part of the appeal here is that it seems like a more environmentally thoughtful option — less plastic, concentrated powder, and biodegradable. Overall, this has been a positive switch for us.

Good product, But Packaging Challenge
This is a wonderful product, really cleans the dishes and I like using powder because I can adjust the amount. Also, I have the Fisher Paykel two drawer dishwasher that asks you to use powder instead of tablets or liquid. There is one thing I don’t like about this product and it is why I give it four stars. They insert the scoop in a metal dish above the powder and I really don’t know what to do with the metal dishes after I am done with the container and get a new one. I would like to find out if others are having the same problem or if they have suggestions for what to do with this little metal dish. And I would like to know if we should all be asking Dirty Labs to do away with the metal. By the way, one time it got really stuck and when I was pulling it out, I got a cut from the metal seam on my finger. Not good.

Health conscious, effective, priced well.
This is an excellent product and is very effective at removing food residue and getting plates and pans to shine. As a biochemist, this is the cleanest dish detergent I was able to find on the market. I still rinse dishes out of the dishwasher once or twice before using just to ensure all residue is removed, but I would trust this with not rinsing long before any soap or dish soap used in handwashing. I had severe gut issues that started up a year or so ago and although I don’t think they were caused by my detergent at the time (standard store brand), they have started healing while using this, I can eat so so many more foods now — which is a good sign (easier to help break something than to fix it / play a role in reversing it). The product lasts for forever, I only had to get a refill recently [8-10 months after the first] which was a shock to me. The scoop that is included makes dosing a breeze, I only use 1 scoop per full dishwasher load. It dissolves within the first several minutes of turning the dishwasher on, I’ve never seen any undissolved material in the dishwasher and sometimes I’ll open it quite early in the cycle. There is no smell. Elderly / those with low hand dexterity may have trouble initially opening the container to get the little tin insert holding the scoop out, it is in there relatively tight — a butter knife wedged in between the insert and the container to help pry the insert out could help in this situation. I would highly (and have highly) recommended this product to people.

Zero star for poor quality control
ZERO STAR REVIEW. This product was recommended as a “healthier” all natural detergent. I have gluten issues and a sensitive stomach. It got me researching how the chemicals in detergents can enter the body and disrupt the GI system. (Not here to sway anyone on this topic, this was just my journey). Dirty labs fit the bill right down to working well in hard water (which I have). I purchased this product twice now. I finished the first container and absolutely adored the results it gave me. In my mind it was definitely a 5 star review. Great results and no negatives. Since I was so happy with it I repurchased when I saw it on sale during Amazon days. No brainer, right? WRONG. THIS PRODUCT NEEDS BETTER QUALITY CONTROL. The new container gives vastly different results. I have white residue streaking all of my silverware, glasses, bowls….its everywhere. It became noticeable after the third use. I continued using the product for several washes and It gets worse with each use. The powder on everything is visible on fingers when you touch it and the streaks DO NOT COME OFF no matter how much I soak and scrub it. Most of my silverware is ruined. It’s now pitting/spotting, but that’s the least of my concerns. My pets bowls were washed in this. Being white, you can’t see the signs. But both of my Siberian Forest cats became severely sick two weeks ago. They stopped eating for almost a week, requiring professional attention to stop their vomiting and deal with the resulting electrolyte imbalances. Thankfully they are recovering now. I purchased new slow feeder bowls for them since they will not go near their old bowls. Smart cats. My decision to use this product impacted the health of my fur babies for which I will always carry guilt. It was purely luck I was not affected. I have been using the leftover paper plates so none of my good plates were used/washed with the second container and I did not consume it like my cats did. It is not often I write a harsh or extremely negative review for a product. I try to analyze the good and the bad. But when the health of a pet is jeopardized by a product, it needs to be shared. (For reference, my cats are a large breed: weighing in at 17lb and 14lb). Clearly the quality control is not what it needs to be with this product. One batch is perfect and the next is horrible. I do not trust this brand and will no longer use any of their products. I tossed all of their products in the trash before writing this.

The BEST detergent
This dishwashing detergent is amazing. My doctor told me to avoid dish detergent with rinse aids as they mess up people’s microbiomes. So I tried a bunch of the natural detergents with enzymes (modern dishwashers are designed to use detergents with enzymes). None of them cleaned my dishes as well as this detergent. I’m VERY picky about the cleanliness of my dishes. This one doesn’t leave a residue or spots. It’s worth every penny. One tub lasts me like 3 months of 2-3x a week dish washing. I’ve been using it for 2 years and have no regrets to switching. It always goes on sale on Amazon Prime Days so I buy 2 or 3 tubs then and save like $10.

Smells great and works great!
Good dishwasher detergent, smells really nice, had to make sure it was on full cycle and not half if I want to do a full scoop because the scent is a bit strong on half cycles. Works great, makes my dishes nice and clean

Great for dirty dishes
Good product, especially for dishes with leftover food. You don’t need to pre-wipe before putting them in the dishwasher. It actually works better on dirtier dishes because of the enzymes.

Cleans very well
After much review of “clean” dishwasher detergents I decided to try Dirty Labs even though the price point is very high. I was nervous in using in the 1st wash because of the price point and hoped it would clean well and not leave streaks as it says you don’t need a rinse aid. To my relief it performed great, cleaned well and no streaks on glasses! The only downside of it is the price but I didn’t give less stars because I knew the price and ordered it anyway.

Superb product
It is the best I have ever used. The colour design on plates/mugs does not fade despite cleaning all brilliantly. Does not leave chemical smell in dishwasher or on plates like modern powders do.
