how does the lock for the spout work

It twists round. It was quite stiff when I first got it. I use it for home made soup and works well

Does the jug leak if stored on its side in the fridge? Looking to buy two, but can only fit one in the fridge door.

From experience I can say that it does. The seal between the lid and the body is - as you would expect with a Sistema item - totally sealed. The closable spout thing is another matter. That cannot be fully locked off. It closes enough to prevent a spill if the jug was knocked over with it shut, but left laying on its side it does slowly leak.

Does the jug come in a box

It’s doesn’t come in retail packaging. However we send it in the box.

Does the jug measure wider at the top than the bottom? I need a jug a max of 10cm deep across the bottom for it to fit into my fridge door.
