Parker Jotter Ballpoint Pen | Stainless Steel with Chrome Trim | Medium Point Blue Ink

Nice pen, writing lovely, flows well

I’ve been writing with this type of Parker pen since I was taught how to write.. many decades ago. I very much like the style, the weight and the grip. Most importantly the durability is generally very good. The metal top end offers very good protection against chewing and general wear. The only historic weakness is the clip, that when I was a schoolboy used to break after a few weeks – these days I’m better able to control my tendencies. I struggle a bit more with two aspects of the modern Parker pens of this type; first, the push button on top is now rounded and polished. For sentimental and aesthetic reasons I prefer the old variant with the sunken rim and Parker logo printed on the button. Yet this more recent variant is probably more hygienic. Secondly, the new painted metal bottom part looks nice but I think the former little chrome band above the tip just gave the pen a more distinguished look. Also metal (aluminium I suppose) has replaced the former plastic bottom part, this enhances durability and prevents the body from scratches in theory. But the spare modern one I have already has paint damage near the tip. Either way, rather than a colour I always have the harder to find plain stainless steel lower body variant that looks a bit more stylish. I’ve always sworn to the finest blue tip.Professionally the most important reason to have this pen is that is looks decent and modestly chic but everyone knows its not outrageously expensive, like a Montblanc pen (while the functionality is similar). This is very important to me as I am in trusted relationship with significant clients and advisors and I can’t afford to come across as sensitive to luxury nor as careless about appearance. Also an expensive pen would be a waste as I tend to lose my Parker pen every other year at meetings or conferences.I was quite pleased to find my favourite Parker pen variant at Amazon, at less than half the price than the various city high-street stationary shops. So I bought 2 of them to be prepared for my next inevitable loss.And of course I highly recommend these pens.

Superb pen. I have bought several. Pay attention to the ink colour and fineness of the nib. ALSO, buy Chinese made refills as they fit exactly and are much cheaper! LO.

Previously got the half plastic black one- very disappointed. My review there was soooo scathing that Amazon didn’t even post it!! This one however is amazing and back to true Parker style!! Sleek, weighty, pure sexy steel. Click of ages, only shame is no Parker logo embossed on the tip on the clicker as there used to be back in my hey day when I was scribbling in 6th form. Love it and for £10quid ya can’t go wrong amigosssss!X

Does feel very light, making it feel cheaper. Person commented below saying that they received a plastic body pen but the item in the photo is what I received too and can confirm it is metal, not plastic (the plastic body jotters have a silver nib at the bottom). That said, can't fault them for thinking it's plastic as it doesn't look like metal.This also comes in hangsell packaging, which is listed in the description, not a box if anyone was planning on gifting and hoping for that. Definitely not worth it for full price. I bought at almost half the price and I still wouldn't really recommend since the chrome trim apparently comes off after a while.

It used to be that Parker jotters could be found everywhere, stationary stores, drug stores, college campus stores and the like. No they have all but disappeared from these locations. Sad. Those of us who still write and take a lot of notes have been stuck with the cheap plastic junk that has found its way in the market. They have to be sold a dozen at a time as that is only about a weeks worth. Yes there are a few fantastic pens if you are willing shell out a lot of cash.The Parkers are not quite the same as forty years ago. The plastic barrels can bend and the threads can strip. Overall today's are still better than most others. Great news is that Parker now has a full range of pens with metal barrels and caps. In addition to bright steel, the metal barrel come in dozen different. I need two for my work, blue and red. These are going to last. Priced from $7.00 to about $20.00, you can beat this pen.
