Does this steamer have a stainless water reservoir and is plastic BPA free?

Here is the reply directly from Hamilton Beach.

"Dear Timothy,

Thank you for contacting us.

This steamer tray, lid and water window of the noted appliance (model 37530A, Digital Food Steamer) contains polycarbonate, which contains BPA as an ingredient.

We require the plastics used in the manufacture of our products comply with and are tested per FDA guidelines to ensure they are safe. "

FDA guidelines aside, it DOES CONTAIN BPA.

What is the difference between this and earlier versio?

I contacted the company to determine if this has BPA in it and they said this:"We are pleased to inform you that all plastics used in model 37530Z are BPA free in all food zones. The tray in model 37537 is manufactured from polycarbonate and contains BPA. This is our only appliance that has BPA in a food zone. "I wrote back today (3/2/15) and asked them if they include the water heating area as a food zone or not. I hope so!They replied today (3/4/15): The water tray is considered a food zone. Every place that your food will come into contact with either directly or indirectly is considered a food zone.

Are the bowls glass or plastic?

2/8/19 They are plastic and very flimsy and  cheap looking. The bottom of both trays are not attach and fall out easily.  A first I thought it would be great to steam corn on the cob by taking out the bottom of the upper tray. I have been using it at least twice a week  for two months now, it's a pain to have the bowl fall apart while trying to put it together. Sure miss my old steam.

Is it dishwasher safe

Only the rice steamer bowl and the drip insert base are dishwasher safe.The 1 and 2 bowls and bases and the top are hand wash only.
