Great concept truly innovative.
I been looking at this product for while ,but was not sure if was any good, they are some negative reviews which made me wait, then the black friday deal came and finally brought it. I shouldn't have worried about anything this projector has surpassed all my tests for quality, sound and most importantly picture quality. It was quite east to setup although i did struggle to connect the projector to my wifi , but this was resolved by resetting my router.i have set up on our dinning table and have connected a nowtv usb stick via the wireless HDMI device provided. I am very surprised at how good the picture is in a fully lit room in daylight, the brightness is fine and you get a good picture in daylight. At night time the picture is almost perfect , good contrast and very detailed vibrant picture. The sound quality is acceptable and loud enough, but i would want to connect a external speaker, but this is not possible yet.I would recommend getting a goggle chromecast so you will then have access to youtube/netflix and many apps, i might try and connect my sky q box. The unit is very small and can literally be put anywhere along as you have wall to project. I have start using it everyday in the kitchen/dining room saves me wall mounting a tv. The unit is controlled via your smartphone thru bluetooth , you have various setting to adjust the picture, but the app normally does everything automatically. Overall i am pleased, it wont replace your tv , but it gives options to watch big screen tv literally anywhere, this was not option before because projectors needed to be wall mounted and distance had be considered, now you have portable projector , with built in sound and battery. This quite a accomplished design from sony a truly innovative futuristic product.

This product should not be on sale.
Updates to the experience of using this product in the comments. It's getting sent back. This product should not be on sale. While the projector itself might actually work, it's impossible to use without the smartphone app. The app to projector communication however is utterly broken. Newer projector firmware might fix it but it's impossible to update the firmware without the smartphone app. The bluetooth connection is unreliable, I could not get it to connect to wifi at all, even the wifi direct option, either of which is required for the firmware update. I assume only a small proportion of users who happened to have particular phones with particular phone OS software versions at a certain time after the product came out might have got it to work. None of the app features worked out of the box.

Very disappointing for the price you pay.
- Battery life is only 2 or 3 hours - not sure if this is a faulty product or if it is a design fault- when you charge the projector you cannot continue to play media whilst having it charging as the auto focus sensor is blocked by the charging cable (definitely a design fault).

Great quality/poor connection
It's amazing projector and I am in love with it from perspective of the picture quality, and distance to project and how big screen can be. But the connection fails unfortunately. Worked ok for about a year and now it connects slowly and then 5 min later the connection is lost and you spend next 30 min trying to reconnect till you just fed up. Seems like the app has not been updated for a long time and there is no other way to connect the projector without app. Its such a shame...

A different concept in projectors
The media could not be loaded. This projector from Sony is a different concept, more of a personal way of life. It can be set to turn on and off at specific times or to come on when a smartphone is near. The projector can be set to display a clock or photos or videos stored in the projector, or from content on a smartphone or from a unit connected to the HDMI interface. The projector is controlled by an app on the smartphone which connects to the projector by Bluetooth. The projector also connects to your WiFi network and can be used with the IFTTT website to create various actions in response to triggers; applets are limited at the moment but include the projector displaying images posted to Facebook and Instagram and images from NASA and other photo banks. The interface unit connects to the projector using a 5GHz WiFi link and, unlike the projector, it doesn't have a battery. The interface unit just has HDMI in and out and a socket for the included IR extender which allows a remote control pointed at the projector to control whatever is connected to the interface unit, for example, a SKy box or DVD player. There is no USB socket which is a pity as you can't play content off a memory stick, it would also be useful as a power source for a Chromecast or Fire stick. I've shown the interface unit used with a Chromecast which gives access to YouTube, iPlayer and similar as well as Google photos. The projector can be set to project on a table or a wall, it automatically focuses and the image is sharp and clear; as with most projectors the image can't be seen in bright light. When used on a table the image is just a little larger than A3. Sound is good, sufficient for a typical living room. Battery life on the projector is around 2 hours.I’ve tried to show some of the features in the video, I like it but I wish the image was a little brighter and it was operated with a real remote control as the app didn’t always connect.
