Perfect weight, Elegance, Simplicity and worth Ten times it's cost.
My First Safety Razor and a Great way to start!I have been shaving for 30 plus years and always with a disposable 3,4 or 5 blade system.A month or so ago, My dad told me "The best shave is with a good old Double edge razor".So I decided to give it ago.The Jagen David B40 - Butterfly Double Edge Razor Safety RazorThis razor has just the most perfect weight to shave extremely close and smooth.Looks wise, it is gorgeous and fits snugly and securely in the hand. When you use the blade simply allow the weight of the razor to do its job.The loading of the blade is simplistic, a mere twist on the end of the handleto open or close the butterfly head.I have been using this for over 3 weeks and I have NOT cut or nicked myself, once. For £9.99 This is 1 of the best investments I have ever made.

A new best friend
I must say, I was skeptical at first, but given that I am trying to reduce my impact on the environment by refusing single-use razors and other plastic razors, I looked into butterfly razors and decided to try this product. The product came promptly, the case is rather nice with its compartment for spare blades. The product itself is great too; the build, the colour and the weight are all appealing. I am using Astra blades with this razor and I couldn't be happier. I am getting more and more confident with using it and it's a much closer shave than I ever got with my previous razors. Totally worth it! I will keep an eye on how this product holds up over time.Sadly, I won't be able to bring it with me in my hand luggage (razor blades are banned by airlines for safety reasons), but it's not a huge drawback.

A great balance!
I, like so many others, have gotten tired of Gillete & Wilkinsons monopoly of razors that have seen replacement blade prices become silly! I tried a shavette first ... it was fun but a bit challenging and not good for uneven areas. So I went for this!It strikes a happy medium between the cheap blades and good old fashioned manlyness of the cut throat shavettes and the safety and ease of modern razors! Not sure why it took me so long to get here but I can't see me changing from this now. You will need blades and a nice shaving cream to make the experience.. I went with 'Taylor of Old Bond St - Sandalwood' ... nice! The razor looks great, a nice rose gold look. And it has a nice case that has a mirror and a bit for holding blades. If you're worried about it cutting you or being difficult to use I would simply say give it a go... I did and don't regret changing! And let's face it for the price it's probably cheaper than buying a 4 pack of gillete mach octoblade diamond fusion expensive as hell MAN+ evolution ... more words that sound cool but have nothing to do with shaving etc... replacement blades!

5 stars for product. -1 for poor packaging.
I've been wanting to get off cartridge razors for a while now because as most people know, they're horrendously overpriced. Tried using a straight razor for a while but I struggled with the hand movements which resulted in numerous cuts so I swiftly abandoned that. This (safety razors) represents the best compromise between the two systems: the money savings whilst also not having to make the awkward hand movements you do with straight razors. This was my first safety razor so I don't have any others to compare it to but generally it seems to function well - easy to insert blades into and sturdy enough. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube to follow but the key piece of advice I'd say is to not force it down and let the weight of the razor do the work. Also for long, thick beards, I'd recommend trimming them down first before using this as I found that thick, long hair ends up getting caught under the blade which causes the butterfly hinge to open mid shave. I'm just annoyed I didn't transition to this sort of system much earlier - god knows the amount of money I wasted buying various Gillette cartridges over the years! However I have to take away one star for the awful packaging for the product. Usually Amazon are good about this sort of stuff but was sent in a wallet type package so the edges of the box ended up getting frayed during transport. Furthermore there was no sealed plastic film over the box to indicate that it hadn't been open previously - for all I know I could have received a second hand or previously returned product. Given the obvious hygiene concerns I really hope this wasn't the case! I've given Amazon and the seller (Arma Online Marketing Limited) the benefit of the doubt because the razor does seem to work despite that. Just glad though I was buying this for myself and not as a gift for someone else otherwise I would have returned it straight away!!!!
