Glory to God 3 White Traditional Oplatki Christmas Wafers with Story Envelope

My family and I have been doing using these for the last 20 years. We do them on Thanksgiving and Christmas, a beautiful family tradition that my kids absolutely love.

We have ordered these for years and they have been fine. This year, there were only crumbs in the packaging. The wafers were completely destroyed. Amazon said it wasn’t replacing it. Will not order again.

Item arrived broken in little pieces.

Oplatki is a very old Polish tradition where wafers are eaten on Christmas Eve. Usually, and entire family will come together just before Christmas Eve dinner. The eldest will break pieces off to share with family members with a blessing. This is to show and express an unconditional love and forgiveness for each other.The wafers remind us of the Holy Communion where bread is taken symbolizing the body and love of Christ. The symbolism is enhanced by the fact that Bethlehem, the birth place of Christ means “House of Bread”.These wafers have an imprint of the nativity scene. They don’t really have much of a flavor and the texture is a bit stale and flat. Still, that did not subtract from the meaning of Oplatki and the celebration of family unity and love.

As it was put in a padded envelope by Amazon the wafers arrived broken. I feel though that the seller should have put them inside a small, rigid box, knowing how Amazon can be when it comes to packaging. It's an interesting religious gift and provides some background on a Polish Christmas tradition that the wafers are based on. The wafers themselves are rather plain, so I wouldn't buy for taste.
