Brave 4 Action Camera 4K30 Ultra Hd Waterproof Underwater Camera

I took the AKASO Brave 4 through two demanding tests: diving into the spring-fed waters at Balmorhea and recording a paragliding flight using a chest mount. It handled both scenarios exceptionally well. A few key takeaways from my experience: Underwater Performance: Using the included waterproof housing, the camera performed flawlessly. Even without turning on any specialized underwater color modes, the video clarity and color retention in the natural spring water were impressive, and the seal held up with zero issues. Stabilization & Flight Video: Paragliding brings a lot of motion, yet the footage recorded on the chest strap came out remarkably smooth. While airborne audio naturally picks up wind, the visual quality of the footage stole the show. Usability & Accessories: The touch-screen/menu navigation is intuitive right out of the box. The included accessory kit is massive—almost overwhelming at first—however, there are plenty of helpful video tutorials online that show you exactly how to configure every mount. If you want smooth, reliable high-definition footage across wildly different environments without spending premium flagship prices, this camera delivers. Highly recommended!

This device is great. While simple to operate and control, the added bonus remote is a God send. It came with a host of attachments that with the included video and text links you can be up and running. I like the output modes of the camera, and the audio is very crisp, but I use the camera to record road traveling, it gives u you the option to not record sound. For the price, you can't go wrong. The attachments, the ease of operation and the vid tutorials help get you up and running. If you're in the market for an action camera the provides quality visuals that won't break the bank, get it.

I'll be right up front - Akaso reimbursed me for my purchase as payment for testing and reviewing this camera. I've made every effort to make this an objective, honest review. I have been an amateur photographer for 40 years and worked professionally for a number of years as a human factors researcher and designer with Bell Telephone Laboratories, and have been giving Akaso feedback on the user interface of this camera. I own three of these cameras,, starting with the 5000 model, then the 7000 model, and now this Brave 4 model. This is by far the best model of the three. though the user interface needs work. Thus the four stars instead of five. Akaso has been responsive to my evaluations, and I have decided to present an abbreviated overview of the camera here plus photographs with technical details on settings and ways to make corrections to the images if you wish.I generally correct the lighting (levels) because I always shoot with the exposure value (EV) turned down a stop or two. However, often the images are so good, you may not want to correct them at all. I'll start with the good stuff because the bottom line is that this is a fantastic little camera. I"ve concentrated on still photos because all three of the Akaso cameras produce outstanding videos. The stills show a remarkable improvement with the Brave 4 and its Sony chip. Below are a number of examples I shot with permission in gallery store in central PA. Most are inside, some outside. I'll upload more later. I've found that to get the best images, choose the settings as follows: gyroscope on, WDR off, angle as you like, there is less distortion with the smaller angles, special effects off because special effects usually add a computerized aspect to the images, though I have not tested it in this camera yet, image size maximum if you want all the pixels and information that the camera produces, quality fine, sharpness off because you don't need it, white balance auto because auto work great, color I have not tested, ISO should be set as low as you can get away with because 400 gets grainy - the set I'm uploading today has an ISO between 100 and 200, EV (exposure value) can be set at a negative 1/3 or one stop lower to get the best color - I use minus 1/3 (but be aware that reducing the EV means the levels probably have to be corrected later on), thrun antishake on and you are ready to roll. Take your photos from at least 4+ feet away. While the camera has an outstanding depth of field, it does not do well with closeups. It also will occasionally zoom to 5x - a new feature - but it is not optical zoom, it's a digital zoom so the zoomed image is only slightly better than cropping a non-zoomed image. Try to keep the camera parallel to the ground to reduce distortion. You can also avoid distorting the image by making sure that major horizontal objects in the scene are also horizontal and straight in your display. If they are curved, you are tilting the camera. Don't do that. Hold the camera as still as you can before and after taking the photo until the display information is again printed on the display. That keeps you from moving the camera while the lens is still open. Look for color because this little camera produces absolutely fantastic, realistic colors. Keep your fingers away from the lens because the fish-eye wide angle will photograph anything that's close to it - the wide angle is 170 degrees wide. The images below were taken inside and out using the setting above. I've tried to pair them with the original image from the camera, rotated if necessary. The corrected ones were genrrally corrected in Photoshop Elements or Fastone. Elements has a great distortiion filter, and adjusting levels and white balance is a cinch in either program. I only needed to correct white balance for two images and the correction is very small but obvious. These photos are difficult for any camera because the lighting was a combination of natural light, tungsten, and fluorescent - a hard combo for even the best cameras. This camera shined in this situation. The photos are reduced to about 500 kb. In general, the original images were 5-6 MB, at 72 dpi. According to the charts, that's enough for at least a 24x36 print. I'll try to upload different ones with explanations of how the camera was set occasionally, but this set is a pretty good example of what the camera can do. Now I keep it in my car or pocket all the time. Here are the main issues I have with this camera. They don't outweigh the good features, so don't let them stop you from purchasing the Brave 4 at this great price. However, this camera would be even better if these items were corrected: (a) the battery door is easily lost and not hinged. I use a piece of scotch tape where the hinge should be to keep from loosing it. (b) the control process is clumsy and hopefully can be improved with a firmware update. I won't go into detail; you will see what I mean as you click through the order of items (c) there is no really useful user manual. A good one could be done online very easily. (d) the wi-fi is hard to understand and get to work...at least on my devices. Same with the wrist band control, and instructions for both are lacking. Again, none of these things is a deal-breaker at this price. If this camera cost $300 or more, they would be much more of a problem. Update: I used this on a week long motorcycle trip. I was easily able to use the included accessories with a small additional purchase to mount the camera to my helmet. The battery life was as listed/expected. Having two batteries was great as I was able to swap back and forth to record the entire trip. Starting the camera each time was simple and fast. Video was clear and stable. Wishlist: The ability to copy data from the camera to my phone via USB. Old: I have not used the camera yet but will be using it while on a motorcycle and will update this review once I have. Initial experience: the product feels high quality for the price. The accessory bundle it comes with is GREAT and the initial set up has been easy (though I am a tech oriented person).

I bought the Brave 4 camera as a budget-friendly alternative to a GoPro, and I couldn’t be happier with it. I recently used it on a kayaking trip thru Grand Canyon and it captured amazing photos and videos. One of the biggest surprises was that it never overheated, even in the Arizona heat. I mounted it to the front of my kayak, and it performed flawlessly the entire trip. The remote control worked great for both taking pictures and starting/stopping video recording, which made it easy to capture moments without fumbling with the camera. Another huge plus is all the accessories that come included. Unlike other brands, where you often have to purchase mounts and attachments separately, the Brave 4 comes with a ton of useful accessories right out of the box. For the price, the video quality, reliability, and included accessories make this camera an incredible value. I would absolutely buy it again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an action camera without spending a lot of money.

This is a great action camera for a remarkable price point. I've used it for back riding and will use it for an upcoming road trip. The quality of the camera and video are excellent and it comes with a load of great accessories. Definitely would recommend.

I’ve had previous versions and just upgraded to this new model with the screen upfront. I love the versatility clear picture and video. Easy to use and an exceptional value for your money. The camera is not heavy and I strap to my chest when hiking or hold it when snorkeling. I would highly recommend.

Me sorprendió su calidad de imagen, e incluso de sonido bajo el agua. El kit es muy completo con todos los accesorios que incluye. La carcasa hermética, funciona a la perfección debajo del agua. Obviamente existen mejores modelos, incluso de la misma marca, pero si te vas a iniciar en videos acuáticos, empieza por algo normal como es esta cámara, y ya iras subiendo cuando lo tengas dominado.

I wanted a little waterproof video camera to record video and take photos on my motorbike. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but wanted semi-decent video and images. So far this little beauty has exceeded my expectations. I'm a bit of a geek by nature and film a lot of videos (underwater), so I have a fair idea of what is good and what is not... I've had the camera for a few days now and my initial impressions are: - Quality seems excellent. I really only need to shoot in 1080p (4K is really too large for most purposes) and having 60fps is desirable, the right boxes are ticked already. - Video stabilization is essential on the motorbike, and this little camera does an excellent job with the footage. - The remote control is very useful and functional. I've attached it to the handle-bars, so I can easily stop and start recording video...PLUS, if you are recording video, you can hit the photo button on the remote and it takes a 20MP photo without interrupting the video. This is so useful for taking quick pictures of lovely scenes and still get the video you want - The camera has loads of different functions, so easy to change resolution, go to Underwater Mode, take burst shots, loop your video and take time-lapse (see example video) - It comes with a large range of including mounting options and accessories. I've easily attached it to my motorbike, securely, without having to purchase anything additional - It comes with two batteries and a charger that charges both batteries at the same time I honestly can't believe how good value this is, highly recommended,

The video quality is exceptional over all the resolutions; however the picture quality is not up to the mark and consists of a lot of grains . Would rate this cam 8/10
