Great dowel pins guide
I use alot of dowels in my woodworking.I find them superior to pocket holes and screws. If you are the same, you will love this tool. Finds thickness center quickly and accurately, and guides your drill perfectly.Drill depth is controlled with movable stop collars for hole depth. Super tool!

Well made
Like this tool for drilling straight holes in 3/4” plywood for hidden shelf brackets! Drill bit stayed straight and didn’t break through the thin sides of the plywood

Helps find the center but you still need to be careful to hold your drill straight
I purchased this item along with the Ruitool metal version so that I had both metric (plastic kit) and imperial bits (metal jig kit) plus the matching guides. I was guessing that the guides would fit in either the metal or the plastic jig and was happy that was the case as the metal jig is just a bit more solid so the plastic jig is now relegated to backup duty.As alluded to in the title, the guides will get you to the center of the board but you still have to be careful to get a hole that is parallel to the sides and perpendicular to the edge if you are using a handheld drill (and not a drill press.)

A quality-material & well-machined tool, that sadly doesn’t do well what it is designed to do.
I ordered this tool mainly because it was the ONLY one of its (or similar) kind with actual SAE bushings. (Beyond that, I thought its center scribe function could come in handy.)I very much hoped its bushings would be interchangeable with the many similar China-made jigs, which use the same length bushings (but unfortunately all come with metric inside diameters only, and all of which ARE interchangeable)…Long story short: The bushings supplied with this tool are manufactured to actual SAE standard and meticulously fit the supplied SAE drills, but they do NOT fit into the standard sleeves of ANY of the various other China-made Aluminum jigs that all sport metric bushings. [- Even if they claim to “fit both”, they all are 6, 8, 10 mm, of which SOLELY the 8mm correspond close enough to the closest SAE standard (5/16) that they can be considered interchangeable in most (esp. woodworking) applications. - 6mm is far too small to allow a 1/4 inch drill or even dowel to fit, 10mm is wayy too large to guide a 3/8” bit or hold a 3/8” dowel snugly.]So, if you hoped to use this kit to get some metric bushings to fit your other standardized Chinese jigs (which also ARE most of the jigs sold (under anyo brand) in the US), THIS (otherwise lovely-made, well-machined) tool is NOT what you’ve been hoping and maybe even praying for.Beyond that,I thought that I could, after scavenging the 1/4” and 3/8” bushing from it, use the tool with its 5/16 bushing as a dedicated center scribe. - However, the other shortcoming of this tool - as mentioned by many others - is the virtual impossibility to use it as an accurate center scribe. While many people complained that “none of its bushings fit a standard pencil”, I found that the 5/16 / ~ 8mm bushing accommodates all of the wooden pencils in our US-based household quite well and reasonably tightly, BUT he problem is that the bushing plus the hight of the tool above the wood is too low to even reach - let alone hold and guide - the unsharpened part of the pencil shaft. - So, NO, - this tool, combined with any regular wooden pencil WILL NOT make an accurate center line, but (- depending on the length of your sharpened tip -) make a line anywhere within 1/4” play…So, needless to say, this one is going back; as, among my more accurate and more versatile jigs, I have zero use for it AS IS.That said, - once again, this is a beautifully machined and packaged tool (mine came with a velvet draw-string pouch, if you wanted to take its pieces out of their fitted foam home.)If the manufacturer reconsidered their bushing approach, this COULD be an ALL STAR winner. The bushings would need an outside diameter that fit the majority of Chinese metric jigsAND there would need to be a significantly taller 8mm bushing to hold a pencil/scribe/drill bit in securely vertically.

Works as advertised
Solid quality. Bushings, drill bits, and collars all worked as described. I had difficulty using a #2 pencil to fit snug in any of the bushings. I found that if you use the "My first Ticonderoga" pencil or one from Home Depot/Lowes, they are a little fatter than a regular #2 pencil, it fits snug in the largest bushing to make your line. Great overall quality. I would purchase it again.

Well designed and well made
This tool is simply made and beautifully designed to not only do its job but to do it repeatedly and accurately. I have many projects requiring dowels and have purchased many tools that failed and had to be returned. This is a “permanent” tool. Some users have complained that it is difficult to use a pencil to scribe a centerline because no insert is the exact size of a #2 pencil. The problem is easily solved by wrapping the pencil with tape to build up its diameter. The tool is simple to use, accurate, and durable, and at a very affordable price.

The drill guides fit loosely and don't screw in.
I messed with the thing a bit and probably will be able to get it to work ok, but the major issue is that the drill bit guides don't fit the central hole that they are supposed to go into. They are supposed to screw in, but just slide right in and wiggle around. Kind of makes it difficult to be accurate. I suppose I'll just put some tape around them to snug them up.Also, the depth stop on the drill bit is difficult to tighten and slipped on me at one point and I drilled too deep. I was just practicing, so no biggie, but definitely would have ruined my day if I was working on an actual project.I should have looked a bit closer at the reviews, but it is pretty annoying when you see four and five star reviews on a product that is this screwed up. I suppose amazon loves it when I have to rebuy a similar item and don't want to go through the hassle of returning the one that is only going to be a complete pain. Just thought I'd hopefully help someone else to skip over this thing and pick a different tool that is hopefully loads better.Edit: I was just about to change my review to two or three stars because the device was working pretty well with a bit of electrical tape, but then the depth stop on the bit slipped again and drilled too deep on one of my final holes. Whatever you do, don't trust that you have tightened those little buggers enough! Check and recheck before each drill. It happens so fast. Ffff

Excelente!!!
