Works reliably so far
Received to day and I am very satisfied with this little device. It is plug and play with my MacBook Air M2 running Sequoia 15. I ripped 12 CDs using Apple Music set to import in Apple Lossless and it performed perfectly. It compliments my space grey laptop and operates quietly. So far so good. Happy to recommend so far.

As long as it keeps working properly, a bargain.
I'll give this External CD DVD Drive 5 stars, and pray to the Gadget Gods that it remains reliable. Because first impressions are very good. It has a nice weight to it, the build quality of what I can see is good. It is primary USB-C, with a USB-A adapter, and the cable is fixed, so no cable to lose. The carry case is of a similar good quality. The loading/unloading of the discs is smooth, and I even like the fact that there is no exterior eject button or lights, as it makes the whole unit look very sleek, modern and 'Apple-like'. The laptop detected it without issue, and the read/write speeds are perfectly acceptable. As long as it remains reliable, I really cannot see a downside.

Not a good product.
Item stopped working properly, waste of time binned it...

Good
Lead just a tad short, for a Mac.Sometimes has a long think before doing anything, not sure that is the computer software, or this.Otherwise compact and useful, as Mac's do not have a DVD drive.Love the lack of installing drivers.

Great purchase
My new laptop hasn't got a CD drive so I had no choice but to buy one. I'm glad I did as it works well and is a lot more sturdy than those built in to older laptops.

Pop out trays way to go
get one where the tray pops out. 2nd type of dvd player like this. old one was 5 years old before having issue thought it was just wear. This version 2nd dvd and im left with the Plug out plug in method to get it to recognise theres a dvd in there so i can eject. that or break it apart to get dvd out. No way of force ejecting means you are at liberty to if it wants to work or not.Spins up like its going to do something and can see inside disc spin, but 3 computers not recognising its there and nothing you can do to get disc out

Such a pity about the 'instructions'...
A very nice and neat little device and actually very easy to use, simply plug and play and it works on my Dell XPS 13, (plugged directly into the laptop, not the hub and luckily I have a early version that has 3 USB C inputs), BUT, anyone not so experienced in using computer peripherals could have serious problems with this CD/DVD player. The user manual is a complete joke...it is so badly translated into English that it is practically incomprehensible, in fact it goes beyond slightly 'funny' to downright irritating. There is no reason why the makers and sellers of this could not have got an English speaker to write some very simple instructions for this. The 'plus' for this is the neat case it has, I am not going to have this plugged in all the time so a case to store it in is a bonus, and it's an aluminium case and fairly solid. The connection cable is very short indeed and while it will work with an extension, it needs to be a very high quality one. It also proved to be quite noisy when I tested it installing software from a DVD, and incredibly slow, but it read the disc and it only took one attempt. So while it will fit the purpose I bought it for. Only 3 stars because it could be so much better. And it should be better, because on my second time of using this, it has failed. Pure luck that it ejected the data DVD I was backing up to an external drive, but it has ceased to work at all now, it will not load a disc and will not work at all, so guess what, it will have to go back and I will have to have a refund because I'm not going to bother having another one...might pop into Curry's and see what they have on offer
